Xiaomi has started rolling out the latest MIUI 9.2 ROM for its budget-centric smartphones, the Redmi 4A. The news was confirmed on company’s official forums. The Redmi 4A was launched in the last year in March with MIUI 8 based on Android Marshmallow, which was later updated to Android Nougat 7.1 based MIUI 8.
The new update is based on Android Nougat 7.1.2 which is about 1.3GB in size and it carries MIUI 126.96.36.199.NCCMIEK. The update also brings January 2018 security patch to the smartphone. However, it is important to note that this is a Nightly Build, meaning that it will be rolled out to random users. The company rolls out Nightly build to random users to get the feedback and if everything is right, it then rolls out the Stable ROM to all its users.
Coming to the update, brings a host of improvements and bug fixes. The update brings improved layout and readability. Other improvements include new Gallery app, fresh UI changes, Mi Video App, search for apps in the settings of the dual app, Mi Drop app, Mi Mover app, new app vault features, improved notification bar and more.
The update is in line with Xiaomi’s announcement of rolling out MIUI 9 update to 40 smartphones. Xiaomi announced the MiUi 9 update in July last year. Later on, the company began the rollout of the MIUI 9 Global ROM in early November alongside the launch of Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite smartphones in India. Xiaomi has already rolled out MIUI 9 update for smartphones like Redmi Note 4, Mi Max 2, Redmi 4A, Redmi 4. Recently the MIUI 9.2 was rolled to Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime smartphones and to an older MI 4i smartphone.
