Xiaomi has today announced the launch of its latest Android One smartphone with Mi A3. With this, Xiaomi is looking to attract those users who want stock Android experience. The phone comes loaded with some interesting features along with new design, promising cameras and more.

However, with the price tag, it will have to face stiff competition from the company's another champion, the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The smartphone is probably one of the hot-selling smartphones in the country from Xiaomi. So, naturally, the question arises: Which is a better smartphone? Should I go with the Xiaomi Mi A3, which comes with Android One programme? Or should I opt for Redmi Note 7 Pro, which comes loaded with interesting features? So, to end this confusion once it for all, let’s put the Xiaomi Mi A3 against its sibling, the Redmi Note 7 Pro

Price and Availability

Starting with the most crucial factor, Price! The Xiaomi Mi A3 comes with a price tag of Rs 12,999 for the 4GB RAM with 64GB of internal storage, while the 6GB RAM with 128GB of internal storage is priced at Rs 15,999. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 7 Pro is priced at Rs 13,999 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB of internal storage, Rs 14,999 for 6GB RAM + 64GB of internal storage and Rs 16,999 for 6GB RAM + 128GB of internal storage. The competition is quite cut-throat here as both the smartphones are priced quite aggressively. However, the base of model of Mi A3 is priced at Rs 1,000 lesser as compared to the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Hence, this round goes to the Mi A3.

Look and Feel

Mi A3

In terms of design, both of them are beautifully-designed smartphones. The Redmi Note 7 Pro features Aura gradient finish, which gives a pretty neat look to the device. The smartphone is available in three colour options including Space Black, Neptune Blue and Nebula Red. Coming to the Xiaomi Mi A3, it features Dynamic Holographic design. The phone is available in three paint jobs including More than White, Kind of Grey and Not just Blue. In our opinion, we think Xiaomi Mi A3 sports a better gradient finish as compared to the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Additionally, it feels lighter with just 173.8 grams as compared to the Redmi Note 7 Pro with 186 grams. Hence, this round goes to Mi A3.

Software

Once again the competition is quite neck-to-neck in this department. The Redmi Note 7 Pro is equipped with MIUI 10, which is Xiaomi’s custom user interface. Xiaomi Mi A3 falls under Android One programme, meaning that users will get pure Android experience.

That said, it depends on the customer preference, but Xiaomi’s MIUI 10 has been long criticised for showing advertisements on its UI along with some unwanted bloatware. However, with stock Android experience, users will not face any such issues. Furthermore, looking at the past record, Android One smartphones promises regular software updates as compared to standard MIUI 10-based smartphones. So, this round goes to Xiaomi Mi A3.

Hardware

Redmi Note 7 Pro

This is where it gets quite interesting. The Xiaomi Mi A3 is powered by a 2.0GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 AIE processor along with Adreno 610 GPU. The Redmi Note 7 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz along with Adreno 612 GPU. Both the chipsets deliver comparable performance in daily usage, though the Snapdragon 675 might marginally do a better job in gaming and other graphics-intense apps as it is loaded with slightly better Adreno 612 GPU.

Display

Coming to the display, Xiaomi Mi A3 is loaded with a 6.08-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1560 x 720 pixels along with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The Redmi Note 7 Pro is equipped with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ Dot Notch display with a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels along with 409ppi pixel density. Although Mi A3 offers you an AMOLED screen as compared to an LCD panel in Redmi Note 7 Pro, the latter offers higher resolution. This means users will have a slightly better experience with the Redmi Note 7 Pro as compared to the Mi A3.

Both the smartphones are equipped with the same 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor, though the Xiaomi Mi A3 has better camera configuration with an extra wide-angle lens.

For the front, the Xiaomi Mi A3 is backed by a 32-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture, while the Redmi Note 7 Pro features a 13-megapixel selfie shooter. Here as well Xiaomi Mi A3 offers better selfie camera as compared to the Redmi Note 7 Pro.
