Xiaomi Lanmi to be Xiaomi’s new sub-brand

X1 smartphone will be the fist device under the new series.

Recently, there were reports of Xiaomi to launch a new sub-brand that will take on other brands like Oppo and Vivo and also Xiaomi was reported to unveil a new device which could well be named under the newer branding. Now as per a blogger on Chinese microblogging website, Weibo, the Xiaomi’s new sub-brand will be named as Lanmi. The Lanmi name which translates to English as Blue Rice. The post was first spotted by GizmoChina.

The Lanmi (pronounced as Lan + Me)is actually just like current Redmi series of Xioami smartphones. Furthermore, the blogger has also revealed that the Xiaomi X1 will be the first device to launch under the new series and will launch as the Lanmi X1.

Recent reports have claimed that Xiaomi scrapped the much in rumours Redmi Pro 2 in favour of the Lanmi X1. But more recently, it seems like that the company is now expected to launch both as separate devices.

The Xiaomi Lanmi X1 surfaced online some days back revealing the specifications as well as pricing of X1. As per reports, Xiaomi X1 will be powered by Snapdragon 660 and will be featuring a 5.5-inch display with 2160 x 1080 resolution. The smartphone is expected to come with a dual rear camera setup on its (with Sony IMX362 or IMX386 sensors) back. It is also expected that there will be a dual front camera setup as well.

the Xiaomi X1 will come in two variants – one with a regular display and the other with a full-screen display probably with minimal bezels around it. The regular variant will come with 4GB with 64GB internal storage priced at 1,999 Yuan or 2,299 Yuan, 4GB RAM with 128GB internal storage priced at 2,499 Yuan or 2,799 Yuan.

The full-screen display will be featuring 6GB RAM with 64GB internal storage priced at 2,299 Yuan and a 6GB RAM with 128GB internal storage priced at 2,799 Yuan.
