Upcoming phones worth waiting for

There are many exciting handsets that are going to be launched in India in the next two months. Here's the list of confirmed devices to be launched soon in India.

If you are mulling to buy a phone and not finding the right one for yourself, then it is not bad to wait for some more time as many manufacturers have lined up a lot of exciting handsets which could be launched very soon, infact within next two months.

Here is a list of such devices from some renowned mobile phone manufacturers that include Samsung, HTC and Nokia. Although there are other phones which are very exciting like the Nokia Pureview with 41 camera and Samsung Galaxy Beam with Pico projector but we are not sure about their release dates.

Google Galaxy Nexus Prime

For anyone looking at pure experience and early updates, this is the phone to wait for. Galaxy Nexus is the official Google phone which is based on Android platform without any (Original equipment Manufacturer) tweaks.

Even though the phone has been delayed several times, missing the latest March deadline, we expect it to be launched in India by April end or latest by May this year.

Galaxy Nexus (GT-I9250) has a 4.65-inch screen with 1280×720 pixel resolution and is devoid of any hardware or even capacitive buttons in the front.

Under the 8.94mm slim form factor, it houses a dual-core 1.2 GHz Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 mobile coupled with 1 and 16 GB onboard memory and PowerVR SGX 540 graphics chip, clocked at 384 Mhz.

It has a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with LED Flash at the rear and a 1.3 megapixel camera in the front. For connectivity, it has capability with 21 Mbps speed, 3.0, WiFi (802.11 a/b/g/n) support and (Near Field Communication) chip.

Samsung has added a 1750 battery to power the Galaxy Nexus. We expect it to be priced at close to Rs 30,000 mark.

Nokia Lumia 900

This flagship Windows Phone smartphone from Nokia is expected to be launched by end of May or beginning June this year. The phone will be non (4G) version but will support high speed 3G network (up to 21 Mbps).

The smartphone has a 4.3 inch Clear Black with WVGA 800 x 480 pixel resolution. It is powered with a single core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8055+MDM9200 mobile coupled with 512 MB RAM and 16 GB on-board memory.

It also features an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture. This camera can easily record 720p HD video at 30 frames per second. There’s also a secondary camera in the front, a feature which is missing on both Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 smartphones.

The Nokia Lumia 900 looks very similar to the Lumia 800 but is bigger and comes with better specification. The phone is likely to be priced close to Rs 30,000 mark, a place vacated by Lumia 800 whose price has been slashed to Rs 24,000.

Nokia Lumia 610

This entry level Windows Phone device from Nokia is expected to start shipping by the end of May for around Rs 11,000. Nokia India’s managing director, Viral Oza has already confirmed this to ‘The Mobile Indian’.

Nokia’s Lumia 610 will be based on Windows Phone Tango operating system, which is expected to be an affordable smartphone. Lumia 610 will come with an 800 processor, 256 MB RAM and 8 GB of onboard memory. Along with that the device will also feature a 5 megapixel camera and MMS capabilities.

Besides, the Lumia 610 will come preloaded with Nokia apps like Nokia Music, Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, and will be available in four colours – White, Black, Magenta and Cyan.

HTC One S

While HTC One X and One V has already been launched in India, One S will take few more days or a month to arrive at a store near you.

HTC One S is an Android 4.0 device with a 4 inch Super Amoled capacitive touchscreen. It flaunts an 8 megapixel camera, making it perfect to shoot good quality snaps with. The device also has a front-viewing VGA camera to address video calling.

One S is powered by a dual core 1.5 GHz processor and has 16 GB internal memory. We expect it to be priced below the One X at around Rs 27,000. The phone is slimmest among the HTC line-up and also comes with a very attractive design, a worth waiting for device in the category.

Sony Xperia U, Xperia P and Xperia Sola

Both Xperia U and Xperia P will feature a 1 GHz processor and will have access to Sony’s Entertainment network. Out of the box, consumers can watch the latest Hollywood blockbusters on Video Unlimited or listen to millions and millions of songs through Music Unlimited.

While Xperia U will have a 3.5 inch screen, the Xperia P will sport a 4.0 inch screen. Both are powered by Sony’s Bravia Engine technology for better display. All new Xperia devices will have similar connectivity options and are DLNA certified. Sharing the same design philosophy, these new models will have a transparent bar just under the screen.

Both Xperia U and P are likely to come with Android 4.0 operating system unlike the Xperia S that requires to be upgraded. The Xperia U and P are expected be available at a price lesser than the Xperia S.

Xperia Sola has a slightly different design and comes without the transparent strip. We presume it will be priced comparatively cheaper than the other three phones. The phone will feature a 3.7-inch display, 1GHz dual-core processor and 5-megapixel rear camera. It will also have support for NFC SmartTags, an xLOUD “surround sound” speaker, also offer full access to the Sony Entertainment Network.

For those who don’t want to spend Rs 30,000 for a smartphone, any of these Sony smartphones will be a good option as these are likely to be priced between Rs 15,000 to Rs 23,000 in India.
