Sony to launch Xperia Z2 in India today

Sony Xperia Z2 will be offered in White, Black and Purple colours with Xperia NXT styling.

Sony is all set to introduce its next flagship smartphone – the Xperia Z2 – in India today. Though there is no hint on the price, the Xperia Z2 is expected to be launched in India for less than Rs 55,000. Sony Xperia Z2 will be offered in White, Black and Purple colours with Xperia NXT styling.

The Xperia Z2 is both water and dust proof as its predecessor, the Xperia Z . It is just 8.2 mm thick and weighs 158 grams. The Xperia Z2 features a 5.2-inch full HD TRILUMINOS display with Live Colour LED for mobile and X-Reality picture engine. This display promises more realistic and vivid visual images. By default the display supports 1920×1080 pixel resolution. Sony has powered the Xperia Z2 with the 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM9874AB quad-core processor and the Adreno 330 GPU. The Xperia Z2 offers 3 GB RAM for best possible experience on the device running Google Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Sony Mobile’s customisations on top of it.

The Xperia Z2 packs a 20.7 megapixel camera with G Lens optics and Exmor RS imaging sensor. The camera module is powered by the BIONZ mobile image processing engine that is expected to offer sharp images with vivid colours and least possible noise. Xperia Z2 is capable enough to record 4K resolution video along with SteadyShot image stabilisation technology. Sony has packed a high density stereo microphone to record high quality stereo audio along with the 4K resolution video recording.

The camera app of Xperia Z2 has several features such as Creative Effect, Timeshift video, Background Defocus and AR effect to play around. The most interesting is the support for the apps such as Vine, to create short videos and upload it directly. The camera interface offers +Apps option to provide a long list of supporting apps. Packing top of the line hardware, the Xperia Z2 will also be PlayStation Certified and will have PlayStation app that will give users the access to a large library of games. The new PlayMemories Online feature acts as the cloud storage based album experience created using images and video. Sony has also added a new digital noise cancellation technology touting headset that can be used with the WALKMAN music app to enjoy music.

Sony has packed a 3200 mAh battery inside the Xperia Z2 to make it easily usable for longer time. Users can enjoy variety of multimedia files on this phone and faster mobile internet is promised through 4G LTE, 3G network along with WiFi support. We have our fingers crossed to welcome the 4G LTE network bands supporting Xperia Z2 model to be introduced in India.
