Skype app updated for Android, iOS

The new update brings stability fixes and makes the app automatically start if it closes unexpectedly.

Skype, the (voice over internet protocol) service provider, has pushed out new updates for its Apple and Google Android platform based apps. The new Skype app update for iOS and Android brings a revamped Instant user interface for chat. Apart from that, users can now move their own video preview during video calls. Apart from that, there are a number of other improvements under the hood for both platforms.

Skype is one service that allows free Skype-to-Skype voice and video calls over Internet Protocol using data connection. As of now, the new update has been rolled out for the official app meant for iOS and Android platforms.

With this update, the iOS Skype app has also gets own video preview repositioning feature (during video calls). Stability and accessibility improvements have been added to the iOS Skype app as well that brings a new ‘sign-in screen’ as well. There are few cosmetic user interface changes across the iOS Skype app which includes the one at Contacts and Messages panel. Along with the bug fixes, Skype has also added a new feature – auto start, to the Skype app just in case it shuts down or closes unexpectedly.

The Skype for Android gets restyled Instant Messaging view and after the update, the app claimed to start up faster than earlier. The app also brings video rotation for several Android based devices.

The new Skype for iOS app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and the Skype for Android from Google Play Store.
