LG has filed trademarks for new devices at the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) - the LG V60S, LG V50S, LG V60X, LG K40S, LG G8X, LG K8S and LG K50S. Of the seven devices, the LG V60S and V60X could be modified variants of the upcoming LG V60 ThinQ while the G8X will be a new version of the LG G8 ThinQ.
LG is gearing up for a more than one smartphone for launch at its IFA 2019 conference next month. This is evident as the company has now trademarked seven new devices in South Korea out of which the LG V60S and LG K50S standout. Besides these two, LG has also filed for the LG V50S, LG V60X, LG K40S, LG G8X, LG K8S.
LG has filed trademarks for new devices at the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) - the LG V60S, LG V50S, LG V60X, LG K40S, LG G8X, LG K8S and LG K50S. Trademarks for the V60S and K50S were filed at KIPO on August 2, meaning we still have some time for the devices to go live.
To start with, the LG V60S and LG V60X are expected to be variants of the LG V60 ThinQ which is expected to be announced during LG’s IFA 2019 conference in Berlin. The company had started teasing the LG V60 ThinQ earlier this month with more than two displays.
It’s unclear which of the LG V60S and V60X will be an upgrade over the upcoming LG V60 ThinQ, especially when the G8S was released as a downgrade over the original LG G8 ThinQ. However, last year’s LG V30S ThinQ was an upgrade over 2017’s LG V30. There's also a new G8X moniker that was trademarked and we can expect this to be some variant of the LG G8 ThinQ. Renders of the LG G8X ThinQ popped up online yesterday revealing a a waterdrop notch on the front and dual cameras at the back.
The LG K50S, on the other hand, could be a modified version of the entry-level LG K50 smartphone which was released in February this year. To recall, the LG K50 came with a 6.26-inch HD+ FullVision display, an octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz along with 3GB RAM + 32GB storage. The device ran on Android 9 Pie and is fuelled by a 3,500mAh battery. It has a 13-megapixel primary lens with PDAF and 2-megapixel depth sensor. For the front, there is a 13-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling.
While it wasn’t long ago when LG laughed the LG G8 ThinQ and G8S ThinQ during the same MWC 2019 event, we can expect that the company could announce the LG V60, V60S and G8X during the IFA 2019 event in Berlin.
