LG G2 smartphone with ultra-thin display announced

LG has announced new G2 smartphone with 5.2-inch full HD display, new Graphic RAM technology and quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800.

LG Electronics has formally announced its new flagship smartphone – G2 – at a press conference in New York, USA. Dropping the Optimus tag, LG aims to revamp the smartphone line-up with G series. The new LG G2 brings a fresh approach to the minimal bezel design in a way that the volume and power buttons are placed at the back, just below the camera sensor. This smartphone is powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 mobile and 3000 battery. LG will make the LTE supporting G2 in South Korea, North America, Europe and other key markets in coming eight weeks.
LG G2 smartphone touts a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with 1920×1080 pixel resolution and thereby offering 423 pixels per inch. This display is said to consume 26 percent less power than other devices when it comes to still frames and thereby increases the screen usage time by 10 per cent. This massive display is powered by the quad-core 2.26 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 and 2 GB LPDDR3 RAM that runs the 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Here’s an interesting bit – the display gets a dedicated Graphic RAM for better visual performance.
The LG G2 features a 13 megapixel camera at the back with optical image stabilization to click better photos in low light conditions. There is an LED flash and auto focus to aid better images. By default, the camera can record full 1080p HD videos. In the front there is a 2.1 megapixel camera which too can support HD video calling.
LG has added number of features through its Optimus user interface. One of such feature is the Answer Me that automatically decreases the ringtone when the phone is drawn closer to the ear. The new Slide Aside feature allows multi-tasking by using three fingers on the display. Audiophiles will enjoy the 24-bit sound at 192kHz for best possible output.

LG has packed a 3000 mAh battery which is bigger but slimmer. LG has not announced the price and will offer the G2 in Black and White colour options.
