LG has formally announced new Optimus 4X HD smartphone with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich mobile operating system and quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor.
Interestingly, it was announced just before the Mobile World Congress 2012 convention which is starting from 27th of this month. The LG Optimus 4X HD comes with mere 8.9mm thickness the new a 4.7-inch True HD (720p) IPS panel display. The company plans to make the smartphone available in the second quarter of this year for Europe region.
The Mobile Indian had reported about the X3 quad-core mobile Processor bearing handset earlier this month. Now the same handset officially launches as the Optimus 4X HD with quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor and 720p HD native Resolution supporting 4.7-inch touchscreen. This will be LG’s flagship smartphone with the native 720p HD resolution support.
Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor comes with four processor cores and one companion core. LG has provided 1 GB RAM and 16 GB on board storage in the phone. At the rear, the smartphone flaunts an 8.1 Megapixel camera with flash and we believe might be capable of recording 1080p HD video at 30 frames per second. In the front lies a 1.3 megapixel camera for video calling and video chat.
The Optimus 4X HD is a direct successor to the Optimus 2X. We hope that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich implementation on the Optimus 4X HD does deliver best possible performance. With the new Tegra 3 SoC the leaked scores of the Optimus 4X HD benchmark which showed quite impressive numbers.
LG Optimus 4X HD is expected to be available in Europe by the second quarter and we can expect the phone to be available in India by second half of this year. Most likely we shall get to see more quad-core mobile processor based handsets by then.
