Karbonn K9 Smart 4G with Android Marshmallow launched at Rs 4,777

The smartphone is available for purchase exclusively through Snapdeal.

With 4G VoLTE being one of the top priorities these days for smartphone manufacturers, Karbonn has launched a bumped up variant of Karbonn K9 Smart, which was launched back in January 2016. The new Karbonn K9 Smart 4G smartphone is priced at Rs 4,777 and is available for purchase exclusively through Snapdeal. Moreover, the smartphone comes in Black Sandstorm, Black Silver, Grey Sandstorm colour options, of which Grey Sandstorm colour option is not available for purchase as yet.

While there must be a good reason for it, on the face of it, the idea of going exclusive for a low value handset with an online retailer seems to be a questionable strategy, as neither can it be promoted heavily nor will it do volumes online. Our guess is, the firm probably has limited quantities available. So does that mean you should rush to buy it? Read on.

As the name suggest, the K9 Smart 4G is a 4G-enabled smartphone that supports Voice Calling over VoLTE, is powered by a 1.2 GHz Quad-Core Mediatek processor along with Mali-T720 GPU and 1GB of RAM. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with Kabonn’s own skin on top. On the camera front, it has 5-megapixel camera on both sides, however, the rear camera comes with an LED flash.

Rest of the specifications are identical to the older variant, i.e. a 5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) display, a 2300 mAH Lithium-ion removable battery, which claims to deliver up-to 6 hours of the 2G talk-time and up to 250 hours of the standby-time. For the storage, we get 8GB of internal storage, which can be further expandable via microSD card. Besides, the K9 Smart 4G offers Dual SIM, WiFi, WiFi Hotspot, GPS and a micro USB port. The handset measures 14.4 x 7.4 x 1 cm and weighs 105 grams.

A perfectly regular package that will meet basic requirements at a basic cost.
