Face off: Xolo Q1200 vs Huawei Honor 3C

Both the handset have top end features that make them irresistible despite the fierce competition in the market.

Motorola’s Moto G created a storm in the Rs 10,000 – Rs 15,000 segment. However not all are impressed with its features, especially storage. Thankfully there are no shortage of good phones in this price bracket. Take the latest Xolo Q1200 and the Huawei Honor 3C for instance. Both the handset have top end features that make them irresistible despite the fierce competition in the market.

Here we have thus compared the two handsets on the basis of their features. Note that we have not reviewed either of them so we cannot say for sure about their performance in real life.

Display

The Xolo Q1200 comes with a 5 inch display that has high definition resolution. This touchscreen supports maximum of five fingers at a time. It has also 3 coating that should protect it from scratches.

Huawei Honor 3C too has a 5 inch display and with the same 1280×720 pixels resolution. However, it does not have an anti-scratch coating like Gorilla Glass in the Q1200.

Xolo Q1200 is also just 6.85 mm thick against 9.2 mm thickness of Honor 3C.

Processing Power

The Xolo Q1200 has a 1.3 Ghz MTK6582 quad core processor, Mali 400 MP2 GPU, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. However, Xolo on its website has said that the phone is upgradable to Android 4.4 KitKat. Considering Xolo’s track record (it recently issued Android KitKat for Xolo Opus), we hope it to release the update for the phone sooner or later. Meanwhile, Xolo has also armed the Q1200 with 1 RAM which in association with the quad core processor.

The Huawei Honor 3C too has the 1.3 Ghz MTK6582 quad core and the Mali 400 MP2 GPU. It has also the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system but with a modified user interface – the Emotion 2.0 Lite. Huawei has not announced the Android KitKat update for it though.

However, the Honor 3C has 2 GB RAM – double then that of Q1200, and thus it is expected to be much faster and hence can handle multi-tasking and high end games with much ease.

Camera

The Huawei Honor 3C has an 8 rear camera, capable of recording full videos in 30 frames per second. The camera is armed with BSI sensor and has very goog F2.0 as Sony Xperia Z2 and HTC One M8. Note that the lower the aperture, the sharper the pictures will be.

The Honor 3C has a 5 megapixel camera (expectedly fixed focus) in the front.

The Xolo Q1200 too looks quite promising in the camera department with its 8 megapixel auto focus unit in the rear which is armed with the Sony Exmor R sensor. This unit too is capable of recording full HD videos. Xolo has not revealed its aperture details. The phone has a 2 megapixel camera in the front.

Other features

The Xolo Q1200 has a 2000 mAh Li-Po battery which claims to provide standby of 418 and 385 hours on 2G and networks respectively; the claimed talktime is 15 and 9 hours respectively on 2G and 3G networks. Huawei Honor 3C has a bit better 2300 mAh battery but its back up is not known; though we expect it to deliver the same (or slightly better than) as Q1200.

Both the devices come with 8 GB and 32 GB expandable storage slot. The Q1200 has an added advantage of USB on the go feature.

For connectivity, both Xolo Q1200 and Huawei Honor 3C has WiFi, 4.0, and 2.0 port. The Honor 3C has additional DLNA. Also note that Q1200 has a single slot against two of Honor 3C.

Conclusion

As cited above, the Huawei Honor 3C has an in this comparison with its 2 GB RAM and a slightly bigger battery. However, Xolo Q1200 shines in the display department with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. However, we cannot here clarify on two crucial aspects – design and camera quality. We will try to review these handsets as soon as possible to cleat these doubts and meanwhile don’t forget to share your experience/opinion here for the benefit of all.
