Exclusive: Realme 2 Pro to launch in India in September for less than Rs 20,000

Madhav Sheth, Chief Executive Officer, Realme India has confirmed to The Mobile Indian that the next smartphone will be known as Realme 2 Pro. He also revealed that the smartphone will be launched within a month.

At the launch of Realme 2 in India, the company teased a new smartphone that will be launched in September this year. Now, we got to know from our sources that the company will launch Realme 2 Pro will be launched on September 28, 2018.

Madhav Sheth, Chief Executive Officer, Realme India said to The Mobile Indian, ” We are going to launch Realme 2 Pro within a month.”Although he did not shed light on the specifications or the exact date of launch, he said, “ It will be priced a bit higher than Realme 1 but less than Rs 20,000.” He adds that the smartphone will come with “best of the processor and best of design.” We have learned from our sources that Realme will launch its next smartphone with Qualcomm chipset.

He also made it clear that the Realme 2, which was launched at a starting price of Rs 8,990, is not an upgrade to Realme 1, rather it is a different smartphone meant for users who require power-packed features like dual rear cameras, notched display, fingerprint sensor among others.

Madhav also mentioned that the company will retain the Realme 1 smartphone in near future and it will be available in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants. He justifies opting for Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor in Realme 2 by saying that it is currently the best with this price range. “The same processor is used in smartphones that are priced up to Rs 22,000,” he added. On P update, he said that all Realme smartphones will be upgraded to Android 9.0 Pie, which will be based on ColorOS 5.2. He says that the Realme 2 will be updated to Android P in early next year.
