A month after unveiling the entry-level M3 smartphone, Coolpad has announced the Cool Play 8 as its third smartphone with a notch at the top of the screen. The device comes as a successor to the Cool Play 7 which was introduced back in July with dual cameras at the back. The Coolpad Cool Play 8 smartphone will be available for an asking price of 999 yuan (approx. Rs 10,300).
The Cool Play 8 features a 6.2-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2246 pixels and a standard notch at the top. The notch gives room t the front-facing camera, ambient and proximity sensors. The device is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage.

The device comes running the not-so-latest Android 8.1 Oreo with Coolpad’s own UI on top and is backed by a 4,000mAh battery.
There’s a fingerprint sensor at the back of the phone which also houses the dual camera setup for primary imaging purposes. The setup combines the power of a 16MP main lens with f/2.0 aperture and secondary 2MP lens which helps in depth sensing. There’s a front camera which is an 8MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.2.
Like the trend is these days, the Cool Play 8 comes with a glass-like material at the back which could possibly be some form of plastic. The rear panel gives reflective and glossy patterns when viewed from different angles and comes in Gray and Red.
