Celkon UniQ launched with 16MP rear camera for Rs 8,999

The smartphone comes with 3GB of RAM and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system

Celkon Mobiles has launched a new Celkon UniQ smartphone for Rs 8,999. The smartphone is listed on the company’s website in Grey and Gold colours. However, availability details of the Celkon UniQ are not known as of now.

The Celkon UniQ features a metal body and a 5-inch (720 x 1280) HD IPS Display with 2.5D curved glass protection and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, which is paired with 3GB of RAM. The smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and comes packed with a 2700 mAh Lithium Polymer battery. The smartphone has a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button at the front of the device.

The Celkon UniQ comes with 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded by up to 128GB via a micro SD card. The smartphone offers a 16-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash, while an 8-megapixel camera is in its front with Moonlight flash. Further, the device offers Dual SIM, 4G, Bluetooth, Wifi, GPS/ AGPS, and a micro USB 2.0 port.

On paper, the specs of Celkon UniQ don’t look much impressive. At Rs 8,999, the smartphone faces stiff competition from the likes of recently launched Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Tecno Camon i, Moto E4 Plus smartphones who offer better specs than Celkon UniQ.

Recently, Airtel partnered with Celkon Mobiles to launch Star 4G+ smartphone at an effective price of Rs 1249. In order to avail the subsidised 4G smartphone, customer needs to make a down payment of Rs 2,749. Further, users will have to make 36 continuous monthly recharges of Rs 169. The customer will get a cash refund of Rs 500 after 18 months and another Rs 1,000 after 36 months, taking the total cash benefit to Rs 1,500.

In case the customer does not wish to opt for the Rs 169 bundled plan, one has the flexibility of doing recharges of any denomination and validity as per individual requirements. However, to claim the cash refund benefit, recharges worth Rs 3,000 must be done within the first 18 months (to claim the first refund instalment of Rs 500) and another Rs 3,000 over the next 18 months (to claim the second refund instalment of Rs 1,000).
