BlackBerry to launch 10 inch tab, phablet in coming months

A physical Qwerty keypad based handset like the BlackBerry Q10 is also in the pipeline.

BlackBerry, which recently launched a smartphone based on its latest BlackBerry 10 operating system, is preparing to launch a 10 inch tablet based on this new operating system.

According to a leaked image of BlackBerry’s device roadmap by @BlackBerry10, the Canadian company plans to launch a 10 inch tablet in the 3rd quarter (July-Sep) and a larger display full touch phone, called U10, in the 4th quarter (Sep to Dec) this year. Also in the pipeline is a phone with physical Qwerty keypad and a larger display like the BlackBerry Q10 that has already been announced. No further details about the handsets are currently available.

As of now, BlackBerry Z10 is the only phone in the market with BlackBerry 10 operating system, 1 million units of which has claimed to be sold so far after its launch in February this year.

If this leak indeed is true then we are looking at a very interesting lineup from BlackBerry devices. However, the lineup doesn’t seem to include anything that will be in the mid-range category. That will still leave the major chunk of smartphone market which is currently dominated by Android with its wide range of products priced between Rs 3,000 to Rs 45,000.
