After LG and Samsung, now Apple is planning to make curved display bearing smartphones, according to a report of Bloomberg which claimed to have been tipped off by a person familiar with the planning.
“Two models planned for release in the second half of next year would feature larger displays with glass that curves downward at the edges,” the person said to Bloomberg on condition of anonymity.
“With screens of 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches, the two new models would be Apple’s largest iPhones,” the person said, adding that the new Apple handsets are still in development and plans haven’t been completed and that the company probably would release them in the third quarter of next year.
As of now, LG and Samsung are the only two companies to come out with their curved display bearing smartphones. Samsung’s Galaxy Round, which is the first curved display bearing smartphone of the world, comes with a 5.7 inch Super AMOLED Display with full HD resolution. It has the 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 quad core processor, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage, 64 GB micro SD card slot, 2800 mAh Li-Ion battery promising 16 hours of 2G talktime, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system.
However, LG G Flex was hailed a lot for its curves than the Galaxy Round. The 177 grams weighing G Flex comes with a 6 inch curved OLED display. Unlike Samsung’s Galaxy Round, the LG G Flex is curved from top to bottom to fit a users’ face. Besides like G2, its keys are placed on it rear panel, below the camera. The G Flex is also quite well armed when it comes to its internals. The handset comes armed with Snapdragon 800 processor and 2 GB RAM. Besides, it has a 13 Megapixel rear camera, 32 GB inbuilt memory, a micro SD card, Android 4.2.2, and a 3500 mAh battery.
