Micromax Bharat 1 VoLTE-enabled feature phone coming soon for Rs 1,999

The major highlight of the feature phone is the 4G VoLTE support, making it the company’s cheapest VoLTE-enabled feature phone.

The home-grown handset manufacturer, Micromax is all set to unveil its much-hyped Bharat 1 feature phone in India within a month or so. The VoLTE-enabled feature phone will come with a price tag of Rs 1,999.

“Bharat 1 will hit the market in the next four weeks,” Shubhajit Sen, Chief Marketing Officer, Micromax, said to The Mobile Indian. The major highlight of the feature phone is the 4G VoLTE support, making it the company’s cheapest VoLTE-enabled feature phone. Although, there is not much information available at the moment, but the device will run on a Java-based operating system. The company has already introduced the Bharat 2, which is an Android-powered smartphone. The company has not set a price tag on the device, but it is available in the offline channel, ranging from Rs 2,999 to Rs 3,499.

As for the specifications are concerned, the Bharat 2 sports a 4-inch display with WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) resolution and a polycarbonate body. The smartphone is powered by the 1.3GHz quad-core Spreadtrum (SC9832) processor, along with 512MB of and 4GB of internal storage, which can be further expandable up to 32GB via card. It runs on 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

On the camera front, the Bharat 2 offers 2-megapixel rear camera with flash and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA resolution) front-facing camera. The smartphone is backed up by a 1300mAh Li-Ion removable battery. Besides, the smartphone offers Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, 4.0, Wifi-802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, GPS, a microUSB port and Accelerometer.

However, Micromax is not the only player to bring a VoLTE-enabled feature phone. Lava recently introduced its first VoLTE feature known as Lava 4G Connect M1, which has been priced at Rs 3,333. Reliance Jio is also reported to come up with its own feature phone that will support VoLTE. The company is rumoured to launch two feature phones, one priced at Rs 999, while the other one will come with a price tag of Rs 1,500.

Not only this, Qualcomm Technologies has also introduced its new Qualcomm 205 Mobile Platform which is designed especially for 4G LTE connectivity for entry-level feature phones. The new Qualcomm 205 Mobile Platform enclose various baseband functionalities along with several hardware components such as RF front end, discrete WiFi, amplifier, power management, software, audio codec and various other software components which will help feature phones operate better.
