Currently beta testing for the Nougat update is underway.
Xiaomi has finally confirmed that its handful of devices will get to taste the Android 7.0 Nougat update quite soon. A company representative has said that the Xiaomi Mi 4c, Xiaomi Mi 4S, and Xiaomi Mi Note will be among the first to receive the update, as per a post on Weibo.
As spotted by GizmoChina on Weibo, Xiaomi MIUI Operators Manager mentioned that beta testing for the Nougat update is underway. However, there is no word about the update for other handsets like Mi Note 2, Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus, Xiaomi Mi Max, and company's first bezel-less phone Mi Mix, but the devices can expect the update soon enough.
The company has not mentioned whether it's popular Redmi series will be updated to Android Nougat. There is also no word whether the company will bring the latest update to India or not. Although, the post did not mention any specific date for the rolling out the update, however, it is believed that the update could start rolling out during Q1 of 2017.
Recently, a leaked screenshot of what appears to be the MIUI 9 interface carrying a version number 6.9.23 was spotted online, which hints that the company has been working on the Nougat update for a while now. The update is believed to bring a host of new Android 7.0 Nougat features like multi-window support, inline notification feature, new enhanced doze mode and more.
