Xiaomi has releasedthe beta version of Android Oreo-based MIUI 9 update for its flagship Xiaomi Mi6 smartphone.Being a beta program, the software is not yet fully optimized for the device and users may experience some bugs till a stable version is released. The beta update will not have support for full features for the device.
The new Oreo Beta update is rolling out with version number 8.1.11 on the Mi 6 devices. The Mi 6 users on MIUI 9 Global ROM v7.12.14 will receive an OTA notification which will automatically update your device to Android Oreo. Xiaomi has not revealed anything about the exact release date of the stable version of the update but we can expect the company to release a stable update of Android Oreo soon.
Furthermore, the company is also looking for new beta testers for the Oreo ROM. Recently, Xioami also announced that the company is looking for beta testers for the Android 8.0 Oreo software update on Mi Mix 2 device. To sign for the beta testing, you have to download the Xiaomi MIUI Forum application from the Play Store and go to the Recruitment section on the app’s homepage. If you are selected, you will be contacted by the team via a private message on MIUI forum.
To recall, the Xiaomi Mi 6 was launched in China last year but sadly, the device never made its debut in India. The smartphone comes with a four-sided 3D glass design and features a 5.15-inch Full HD (1080p) display. The Mi 6 has glass on the front and back with a stainless steel frame in between. It is powered by a latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 64 bit octa-core processor clocked at 2.45GHz, which is clubbed with Adreno 540 GPU, 6GB of RAM, and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. The smartphone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with MIUI 8 on top of it. The fingerprint scanner is placed in the front under the glass. Xiaomi Mi 6 is also splash-resistant, with the SIM tray also sealed against splashes.
