Sony Xperia M2 and M2 Dual, which were unveiled by Sony last month at the Mobile World Congress event, may soon be launched in India as well. The two handsets have been listed on Saholic, an Indian e-retailer, as coming soon.
Note that Xperia M2 comes in two versions – one sporting the 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8226 quad-core Processor and Adreno 305 GPU while the other has the Snapdragon 400 MSM8926 mobile Chipset with Adreno 305 GPU graphics. The difference lies in the fact that the new Snapdragon 400 MSM8926 will offer support 4G LTE network support. From the Saholic listing it is not clear as which version is to be launched in India.
The Sony Xperia M2 comes with a 4.8-inch LCD display with 960×540 pixel resolution and 10 point multitouch support. This display is not that great for a mid-range device as most of its competitors come with high definition (720p) native resolution. All the variants run the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean MR2 and pack 1 GB RAM.
At the back, Sony has placed an 8 megapixel camera with Exmor RS for mobile image sensor. This camera module is equipped with Autoscene Recognition and HDR imaging modes. The Xperia M2’s camera also supports third party App integration for using other apps such as Vine and upload videos online.
The Xperia M2 will be offered in Purple, White and Black colour options. Sony has packed a 2300 mAh battery inside this smartphone.
