The company might have found the solution of the problem which led to the breakdown of the screen
Samsung is planning to announce a new release date soon for the Samsung Galaxy Fold smartphone. The Launch was earlier postponed due to issues with the device.
DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung said to Korea Herald, “ We has reviewed the defect caused from substances [that entered the device], and we will reach a conclusion today or tomorrow [on the launch]. The wording of the statement suggests that the company might have found the solution to the problem which led to the breakdown of the screen.
As per the newspaper, Company plans to improve the durability of the hinge’s exposed area and will also minimize the gap between the screen’s bezels and its protective layer.
The first problem was the dust or particles entering into the smartphone due to space between the hinges, which led to the breakdown of the screen. The Second was the curved OLED screen which is quite fragile in nature and any intrusion of dirt or stress can damage the screen. In quite a few cases it cannot be repaired at all. The third one was the pre-installed protective layer, which looked like a screen protector. In one of the case, user peeled it off the protective layer to get the real feel of the phone, which resulted in the breakage of the screen. Considering the fragile nature of flexible OLED screens, peeling off the protective layer ultimately damaged the screen. Even the company did not place the warning about peeling off the protective layer rightly on the Galaxy Fold smartphone.
Earlier, DJ Koh, had confirmed that Galaxy Fold smartphone will surely be launching in India. He also said that the phone would be manufactured in India, but will not use the 'Made in India'logo. Even the smartphone has been listed on the Samsung India official website.
Just to refresh, Samsung Galaxy Fold comes with two screens, a 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED (21:9) cover display on the front and a 7.3-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED tablet screen with 4.2:3 aspect ratio when the phone is unfolded. The smartphone comes equipped with total six cameras including three on the back (when folded in phone mode), one in front (also in phone mode), and two inside (in tablet mode). It runs on Samsung’s One UI on top of Android 9 Pie and is powered by an octa-core processor paired coupled with 12GB of RAM & 512GB of internal storage. There are two batteries on the inside of the two fordable slabs which amount to a total of 4,380mAh.
