Intex to launch an Android phone for around Rs 5,500

This phone from Intex will the cheapest Android handset in India and is expected to challenge Micromax A60, which is priced at Rs 7,000.

Intex Mobiles, an Indian handset brand, is to join the bandwagon with a smartphone powered by version 2.2 or Froyo in February.
Sudhir Kumar, assistant general manager of the telecom division at Intex, said to Telecom Yatra, “We will launch an Android 2.2 phone in the first week of February and it will priced at around Rs 5,500.”
The Intex Android smartphone will be equipped with a 3.2 mega camera, 2.8 inch resistive full-touch screen, WiFi and GPS.
This phone from Intex will the cheapest Android handset in India and is expected to challenge Micromax A60, which is priced at Rs 6,999.
Sudhir also said, “Intex will launch four more models of V Show – a mobile phone with built in projector, which was recently launched.”
He added that the new models of V Show will support Office applications and therefore be useful for professionals.
“People who want to watch movies, videos, picture galleries and even read e books on their mobile phones will also find some interesting applications in the new model,” he further added.
V Show enables the user to project movies and still images which are either stored in the phone’s memory or are streamed from the internet.
However, the mobile phone as of now can’t project images from a computer’s memory. This means that content within a computer’s memory will have to first be transferred to the phone’s memory and then projected.
