Huawei is planning to expand its customer portfolio and presence in the offline market in India.
We exclusively reported that Huawei is all set to partner with Micromax in India. Now, Huawei has officially revealed that it is entering into a strategic partnership with Micromax Informatics Ltd.
With this, Huawei is planning to expand its customer portfolio and presence in the offline market in India. The company has revealed that as a part of the phased expansion plan, Huawei with the help of Micromax will be present across the country starting from cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Kochi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dehradun, Kolkata and Jaipur among others. Currently, Huawei primarily sells through retail partners.
“Since our very entry into the Indian market, the brand has been witnessing an overwhelming response from all sections of consumers. With an aim to be present where our consumers are, we plan to focus on a robust offline distribution network catering to the needs of consumers in urban as well as the rural regions of the country and to make them experience the innovative technology that has won the hearts of customers’ world over,” said Tornado Pan, Country Head (Huawei Brand) Consumer Business Group, Huawei India.
This simply means that Micromax will help the Chinese brand to establish a strong network in the offline segment, which the company lacked previously. Huawei concentrated more on the online sales platforms, while other Chinese players like Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo started investing heavily in the offline retail sector.
Now, with Micromax on-board, the company will get some foothold in the offline segment as the Indian brand has good experience in the offline market, especially in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. Furthermore, Huawei can now concentrate on the R&D specially meant for the Indian market. The company has revealed that it has spent over $15 billion in R&D last year.
