Google Pixel 2 XL users are now facing a new issue related to the battery. Multiple users have complained that their units charge slowly despite the phone showing the ‘Charging rapidly’ notification.
Android Police, in their testing, revealed that despite Google’s claim of 10W+ charging speeds, the Pixel 2 XL only caps to 4W under low temperatures. The report mentions that when the phone’s battery temperature is below 20-degree Celsius, the phone charges at sub-optimal speeds, though it displays ‘Charging rapidly’ notification, which is kind of misleading.
The publication put the Google Pixel 2 XL in the freezer until the internal battery temperature was around 16-degree Celsius and they measured the charging speed. After that, they left the phone at room temperature and found out there was a huge difference of over 12W in the charging speeds. Google has acknowledged this issue and the brand says that it is investigating in this matter.
This is not the first time, the Google Pixel 2 XL ran into problems. Multiple users complained slow screen wake up response after the Android Oreo 8.1 update in Pixel 2 XL devices.
