Google has already released two rounds of developer preview for Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Pixel C tablet.
Last month, Google released the Android 7.1 Developer Preview for Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and Pixel C tablet with confirmation of final build releasing by December 2016. Seems like the search engine giant is on point as a mobile carrier has now listed the exact date of the roll out for Nexus 6P.
In the latest report, Vodafone Australia has revealed on its website that Google is likely to release Android 7.1.1 Nougat for Nexus 6P on December 6. As per the website, the OTA update weighs at 650 MB and comes with a build number NMF26F. The update also comes with December security patch, reveals Vodafone Australia's website.
As always, this Firmware Over The Air (F-OTA) update will be a progressive roll out i.e. it will roll out gradually to devices. To be precise, in the first 3 days about 10,000 random users will get the OTA update. From 4-13 days, 10% more users will be added and post that all the users will get the update notification. In other words, by December 20 every Nexus 6P can expect the OTA notification on their devices.
Android 7.1.1 Nougat is expected to bring in a bunch of improvements including Touch/Display performance improvements, Daydream VR mode (if hardware allows), Manual storage manager and other developer features. Unfortunately, this Nougat update won't bring Night Light and Finger Swipe Down gesture to Nexus 6P. Google blamed this to the lack of hardware support on the Nexus devices.
After releasing the first developer preview for Android 7.1, Google released the second preview earlier this month. Moreover, the above report is only limited to Nexus 6P it seems. So we don't really know if Nexus 5X and Pixel C tablet are in line for the update at the same time or not. Also, if this rollout happens, Nexus 6 users along with HTC Nexus 9 and ASUS Nexus Player users can get excited too.
