The smartphone will come with a large display moulded into a compact form factor.
Apple iPhone 8 has been subjected to various leaks in the past, but if a recent is anything to go by then the upcoming smartphone will come with a bezel-less display coupled with a compact design. An image posted to Weibo, shows the technical schematics of the iPhone 8, revealing some key information about the device.
To start with, the leaked image is coming straight from the Foxconn and the drawing reveals some key aspects of the upcoming iPhone 8. The smartphone will come with a large display moulded into a compact form factor. The sketch shows that the device come will minimum side bezels, making it near the bezel-less screen. Also, the top and bottom bezels are smaller.
At the back, one can see a dual-camera setup vertically aligned at the top left corner along with LED flash. Interestingly, the Touch ID sensor has been shifted at the back panel and reside just below company’s logo. This is interesting because, Apple is reported to be working on a fingerprint sensor which would integrate into the display, under the glass.
The upcoming iPhone will be 149.5mm tall, 72.49mm wide and 8.6mm thick, which is almost similar to iPhone 7. For your reference, the iPhone 7 is 138mm tall, 67.1mm wide and 7.1mm thick. Further, the device will come with a 5.8-inch OLED display, which would similar to what we have seen in LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.
Previously, Cowen and Company analyst Timothy Arcuri said that the iPhone 8 will boasts “extended battery life with two packs of batteries”. Further, the research note also backs up earlier claims from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who stated that the three iPhones will continue to have Lightning connectors, but will be based on USB Type-C connectivity.
Recollecting previous rumours, Apple is said to launch three new iPhones this year. The 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone devices will be up much before, probably in September. Further, as per Brian White (analyst), the 5.8-inch iPhone 8 will be available for pre-orders along with the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone devices, however, the availability of the 5.8-inch variant is likely to happen sometime in October-November. Also, Apple is expected to introduce the True Tone display technology which was earlier seen in iPad Pro, into the upcoming iPhone 8.
