With the advent of quad-core smartphones in India, the high-end devices market just got hotter and buzzing with new models.

In last couple of weeks, two major smartphones – Nokia 808 PureView and Samsung Galaxy S III – have been launched in the high-end category of smartphones. So, if you don’t have any limitations on the budget, you can certainly hope to get the best bang for every buck.

Samsung Galaxy S III

Samsung has earlier this month announced its new Galaxy S III GT-I9300 smartphone with 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Sporting a massive 4.8-inch HD Super Amoled Plus PenTile touchscreen, the Galaxy S III can support 1280×720 pixel resolution natively. The display has been built using 2 for more strength and protection against scratches. Under the 8.6mm chassis, this smartphone houses quad-core 1.4 GHz mobile processor.

Galaxy S III also features some novel features such as Smart Stay which keeps the screen awake till the time the owner is looking at it. When the user is not looking at the screen for a long time, the Smart Stay feature puts the screen into sleep mode and helps save the battery.

Besides Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the Galaxy S III features new version of TouchWiz 4.0 user interface which is less intrusive than its previous versions. At the back, along with an LED Flash, lies an 8 camera that offers simultaneous video as well as image recording. It also features a 1.9 megapixel front facing camera that offers 720p HD video recording at 30 frames per second.

Other features include 4.0, dual-network GPS support, 50 Dropbox Storage for two years, Stereo FM with RDS, and supports micro SIM card. HTC One series of smartphones are the first devices from HTC that come preinstalled with Android’s latest build, Ice Cream Sandwich. Along with this the HTC One series phones are designed with camera and music in mind and hence offer better experience in these two areas.

HTC One X comes in a polycarbonate unibody that is claimed to have the ruggedness of metal but is super lightweight. Along with being lightweight the body has a slim and sleek look and feel too.

One X comes with a 1.5 GHz Super 4-PLUS-1 (quad core) Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile with an integrated fifth battery saver core and a high performance 12 core Nvidia GPU. The company had very recently announced an update for the One series devices that fixes the screen glitch issue which was faced by a number of early One X buyers. Airtel subscribers (new and old) purchasing the new devices before June 30 will get to download 100 full songs free, and will get to use 500 data for three months and 200 minutes of mobile TV.

Nokia has just launched its flagship Symbian smartphone, called the Nokia 808 PureView which comes with a 41 megapixel camera. Featuring a 4-inch Amoled touchscreen display with 640×360 pixel resolution, this smartphone’s display has been built using Corning Gorilla Glass technology. The Nokia 808 PureView houses 1.3 GHz ARM 11 architecture based mobile processor and has 512 MB to run the Belle Feature Pack 1 smoothly on it.
