Dual-SIM handsets reduce the stress to carry and manage two separate handsets. However, selecting a good dual-SIM handset under Rs 20,000 is a tough task with so many handset models available in the market.
This week, we have listed out five best dual-SIM handsets which have been launched recently and promise decent ‘bang for the buck’ experience. Do note that most of the run Android 4.4 KitKat update and we hope that the respective companies will release the next Android 5.0 LMP update in near future.
Motorola recently introduced the refreshed version of its best-selling Moto G as the second generation Moto G with improved specifications. The second generation Moto G flaunts a 5-inch LCD display with 1280×720 pixel resolution. This display has been constructed using Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology. Motorola has armed it with the quad-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 mobile chipset which remains the same as the predecessor model. This mobile chipset is clubbed with 1GB RAM.
Moto G features 8 megapixel camera at the back with an LED flash under it. In the front, it has a 2-megapixel camera. The new Motorola Moto G offers dual-SIM configurations of which one supports 3G network enabled SIM card. Other noteworthy features include WiFi 802.11ac support, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS support. The second generation Moto G comes in 8 GB and 16 GB on-board storage and both the versions have a memory card slot to add more storage. Motorola has loaded the Android 4.4.4 KitKat with several Moto family only enhancements on it. Motorola has packed a 2070 mAh battery inside the new Moto G.
Asus Zenfone 6
Asus unveiled the new Zenfone series with the large screen Zenfone 6. It has a 6-inch IPS display with 1280×720 pixel resolution and offers great viewing angles. However, Zenfone 6 offers pixel density of 245 pixels per inch which is not acceptable for such a large display. The Zenfone 6 is powered by the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z2560 processor which comes with hyper threading feature. Asus has packed 2 GB RAM and offers 16 GB built-in storage along with a memory slot that can accommodate a micro SD card of up to 64 GB.
Zenfone 6 runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box and Asus as promised to release the Android 4.4 KitKat version. At the back, Zenfone 6 has a 13 megapixel rear camera with an LED flash for great imaging experience and record HD videos. In the front, it has a 2 megapixel camera for video calls and clicking selfies. Connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, micro USB port, and GPS with GLONASS support. Measuring 9.9 mm thick, the smartphone weighs 196 grams including the 3300 mAh battery. Asus claims that the battery offers 33 hours of 3G talktime. The Zenfone 6 can accommodate one 3G network enabled micro-SIM module has in one of the two slots.
Micromax introduced its selfie-centric powerful smartphone – Canvas Nitro A310, earlier this week. This dual-SIM handset can support one 3G network enabled SIM card in one of the dual-SIM slots. The new Canvas Nitro features 5-inch IPS LCD display supporting 1280×720 pixel resolution natively.
Micromax has placed 5 megapixel front facing camera built with OmniVision OV5648 imaging sensor along with Fixed Focus in the Nitro. There is no LED flash in the front to support during low luminance environments. At the rear, this smartphone has a 13 megapixel Sony IMX135 CMOS sensor based camera along with an LED Flash and auto-focus. The rear camera can shoot high quality images and record full 1080p HD videos.
Micromax has powered Canvas Nitro with the octa-core 1.7 Ghz MediaTek MT6595 System-on-Chip and Mali-450 GPU for graphics. This mobile chipset is paired with 2 GB RAM to run the system and the graphics heavy games as well as applications smoothly. The Canvas Nitro A310 offers 8 GB on-board storage and memory slot to add up to 32 GB microSD card. Micromax has loaded the Android 4.4.2 KitKat to run smoothly on this smartphone. The Canvas Nitro is powered with a 2500 mAh battery that promises 10 hours of talk time.
Xolo Play 8X-1200
Xolo Play 8X-1200 was announced just recently, targeting the avid mobile gamers in India. The Play 8X-1200 features a 5-inch Full HD IPS display. Under the hood, the Play 8X-1200 houses the True octa-core 2 GHz MediaTek MT6592T mobile chipset which is paired with Mali-450 GPU graphics to deliver top level mobile gaming experience. This mobile chipset is clubbed with 2 GB RAM for supporting modern 3D graphics loaded games. By default, the handset offers 32 GB on-board storage. This smartphone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. Xolo has loaded Gyroscope sensor along with other usual sensors such as Magnetometer, Accelerometer, Ambient Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor and Hall Effect sensor.
Supporting dual-SIM configuration, the Play 8X-1200 looks stylish and has three capacitive buttons in the front. At the rear, it has a 13 megapixel camera with PureCel sensor and Dual LED flash. Meant for high quality imaging, one can easily record full HD videos with the rear camera. In the front, it has a 5 megapixel camera for great quality self portraits and HD Video calls. Even the front facing camera has an LED flash. The Play 8X-1200 also supports USB on-the-go function to connect a USB drive. Xolo has packed 2300 mAh battery in the phone which may not be enough for the hard-core gamers.
Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 flaunts a 5.25-inch TFT touchscreen display with 1280×720 pixel resolution and thereby offering pixel density of 280 pixel per inch. It has a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core mobile processor and 1.5 GB RAM. The Grand 2 runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system but it has the TouchWiz user interface. The phone also comes with Samsung Store and other exclusive apps.
Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 comes with an 8 megapixel auto focus camera and an LED Flash at the back. This camera can be used to record full HD videos with stereo sound. In the front, it has a modest 1.9 megapixel camera for video calls. The dual SIM version offers HSPA (3G) network support in one of the SIM slots. Other than that the Grand 2 has WiFi, Bluetooth, FM Radio, and GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS support. Samsung has packed 2600 mAh battery to power this device.
