A quick look at the Intel Xolo smartphones from Lava so far, at their best price.

Xolo, a part of Lava International, came into being in 2012. The first Xolo branded smartphone was Xolo X900. It was not merely a product coming out from Lava International’s new brand; instead it was Intel’s entry (or should we say re-entry) into the smartphone segment. Intel used to have a for PDAs (personal digital assistant) way back in 1996.

Since then Xolo has come a long way and has launched seven smartphones, the latest being the Xolo X1000. Here is a look at all the devices launched under the Xolo brand name so far and their best price.

Xolo X1000 (Rs 19,999)

Xolo yesterday announced its flagship smartphone Xolo X1000. It is powered by an Intel Atom processor Z2480 with Intel’s hyper-threading technology. The smartphone is also equipped with a 400 graphics processing unit (GPU) to enable full 1080p HD video encoding and playback. It is powered by ICS operation system.

Xolo X1000 comes with a 4.7 inch Sharp HD2.5 D curved glass display. The use of a single glass that integrates seamlessly with the unibody design nullifies any possible refraction and adds to the flawless viewing experience. is 312 pixel per inch (ppi).

The device has an 8 megapixel rear camera with imaging capabilities like a burst mode, which operates at 15 frames per second (fps) and a 1.3 megapixel front camera. On the memory front it has 8 GB internal storage and 1 GB RAM, with a microSD card that can read 32 GB of memory. Xolo X1000 has a 1900 battery.

Xolo A1000 (Rs 12,990)

Xolo A1000, a smartphone with a 5 inch display, has a one glass solution (OGS) that makes it quite sleek-just 8.8 mm thick. In designing the smartphone Xolo has removed the extra flab on the border of the phone while retaining the display area to give it a slim fit look.

Xolo A1000 is powered by a 2100 mAh battery and comes with an 8 megapixel camera with flash at the back and in the front. The phone is powered by a 1 GHz dual core MediaTek MT6577 processor and has a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution HD screen. It has 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded to 32 GB using micro SD cards. Xolo A1000 is the successor to the Xolo A 800.

Xolo X500 (Rs 8,000)

Xolo X500 is based on Intel’s Atom processor, designed specifically for low cost smartphones. The Atom Z2420 on the X500 is clocked at 1.2 GHz and also uses a PowerVR SGX540 GPU.

The Xolo X500 has a 3.5 inch, 480 x 320 pixel resolution display, 512 of RAM, 4 GB with microSD card slot, a 5 megapixel rear camera with auto focus and 7 burst mode. In addition, it has a 1,500 mAh battery, dual card support and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean based smartphone, Xolo Q800, has a 4.5 inch IPS panel display with qHD (540 x 960 pixel) resolution. Though it’s not an HD display like the one in Micromax Canvas HD A116, due to the small screen size, Xolo Q800 has a decent 245 ppi compared to 293 ppi of the Micromax handset.

Xolo Q800 comes with a 1.2 GHz quad core MediaTek and 1 GB RAM. The Q800 has a 4 GB ROM. It has an 8 megapixel camera with backside illumination CMOS sensor for better low light photography. It also has a 1.2 megapixel camera in the front.

Besides, the Xolo Q800 has (up to 21 Mbps), WiFI, Bluetooth, A-GPS, and accelerometer. It has a 2100 mAh battery with a claimed 16 hours of talktime.

The dual SIM based Xolo A800 runs on a dual core 1 GHz MediaTek chip and runs Android 4.0. It comes with a 4.5 inch qHD (960 x 540 pixel) IPS display.

The phone also features an 8 megapixel camera with backside illuminated (BSI) sensor and offers auto focus and touch focus. It boasts a front facing VGA camera.

The Xolo A800 comes with 4 GB of internal storage and 512 MB of RAM. Lava is also offering an 8 GB card for free with this phone. The Xolo A800 has an ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, accelerometer, 3G, WiFi, and as well.

Xolo A700 (Rs 8,000)

Xolo A700 is a feature rich yet budget friendly Android smartphone. The Xolo A700 is Lava’s second Android smartphone under the Xolo brand name, called the Xolo X900.

Xolo A700 comes with a 1 GHz dual core processor from MediaTek, which is complimented with a powerful graphic processor as well. The Lava Xolo A700 has Google Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, 512 MB RAM and 4 GB of onboard storage, which can be expanded further to an additional 32 GB with the use of a micro SD card.

The Xolo A700 has a 4.5 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display featuring a resolution of 960 x 540 pixel, which is the best part of this device. Along with that the Lava Xolo A700 features a dual SIM connectivity based design with both 3G and connectivity based connections available through master and slave SIMs respectively.

The Lava Xolo A700 comes with an in built stereo FM radio receiver and along with that it has a multi format audio video player as well. There is a 5 megapixel main camera with LED flash for illumination that supports HD video recording at up to 720p resolution. On the front there is a secondary camera to facilitate video calling and video chats in VGA resolution only.

Xolo X900 (Rs 12,000)

The first Intel processor based smartphone Lava Xolo X900 features a 4.03 inch touchscreen display, Near Field Communication (NFC), and micro HDMI to output high quality video.

Xolo 900 has a single core 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z2460 mobile processor and supports all modern 3D graphics and high quality video playback.

On the camera front, Xolo X900 has an 8 megapixel rear camera, which should ideally be able to record 1080p HD videos. This camera also features a burst mode, which will allow users to capture ten pictures within a second at 8 megapixel quality. There’s also a front facing camera for video calls or video chat.
