Earlier this year, Sony confirmed that the Xperia Z series would be replaced by the new Xperia X series. Now a new report claims that the company plans to kill Xperia C and Xperia M series of smartphones in favour of the X series. According to Sony Xperia blog, the company may replace these two smartphone ranges with its X series by 2018. So Sony is planning to continue with the latest X Series for two more years.
Some leaked slides from Chinese website ePrice shows Sony using the “X” logo for the 2016-2018 “Chapter 3” in its roadmap. The chapter indicates how the Xperia X branding stands for “Xperia for new communication”. Chapter 1 was from 2010-2012 shows Sony focusing on “open OS for web communication.” The Chapter 2 from 2013-2015 was all about the “best of Sony,” when Sony made Xperia Z series smartphones.
This could also mean that recently leaked Sony Xperia C6 Ultra may in fact launch as the Xperia X Ultra.
