Samsung has launched two new smartphones – Galaxy S Advance (GT-I9070) and Galaxy Pocket (GT-S5300), in India today.
The Samsung Galaxy S Advance is the updated version of the popular Galaxy S smartphone. It comes with a WVGA (854×480) Super AMOLED Display and a large 4 inch curved glass screen. It gets a bump in performance through the new 1 GHz dual core processor and is based on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.
Samsung has also upped the 3G speeds to up to 14.4 Mbps download speeds, and has provided Bluetooth 3.0 in Galaxy S Advance for faster file transfer. Its WiFi Direct feature connects users to other devices through WiFi access points for easy content sharing. There is a 5 megapixel camera also.
Samsung Galaxy S Advance also features Find My Mobile, a unique lost-phone management system that enables users to trace their lost phone via a web Browser (samsungdive.com) and allows remote deletion of data.
The Samsung Galaxy S Advance is priced at Rs 26,900 and is available from retail as well as online stores from today.
Samsung Galaxy Pocket on the other hand is an entry level Android phone with a small 2.8 inch screen. The phone is 11.9 mm thickness and 97 grams in weight.
The phone has a 832 MHz processor and offers 3G speeds up to 3.6 Mbps and also has WiFi connectivity option. It is based on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and thus allows users to access Google Mobile Services. Users can also download apps from the Samsung apps store. The phone has 3 GB Internal Memory which is expandable up to 32 GB. Samsung has put its TouchWiz interface layer over Android operating system on this phone.
The Samsung Galaxy Pocket is priced at Rs 8,150, which makes it a bit expensive since Galaxy Y with slightly bigger screen is now available for Rs 7,050 in the market.
With the launch of these two new smartphones, Samsung has a range of 19 smartphone models priced in the range between Rs 7,350 to Rs 38,250.
