Mukesh Ambani LED Reliance Jio has silently launched a few phones under its LYF brand which includes the LYF Water 1 which is priced at Rs 14,999. Here we have compared the phone with the Samsung Galaxy J7 that has a price tag of Rs 14,999.
So let’s see which one of these two is the better 4G smartphone.
Design and Display
The LYF Water 1 has a 5 inch LCD display, which has full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) resolution which means it has Pixel density of 403 ppi. The Samsung Galaxy J7 has a bigger 5.5 inch display but with high definition (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution thus it offers quite low pixel density of 267 ppi. However, the J7’s display is a Super AMOLED unit which is known for its colour output. So despite having lower resolution, I guess, the J7’s display to be as attractive as that of Water 1.
The Galaxy J7 measures 152.2 x 79.1 x 7.9 mm and weighs 169 grams. On the other hand, the LYF Water 1 has a dimension of 142 x 70.5 x 6.8 mm and weight of 122 grams.
Processor & Memory
The Samsung Galaxy J7 is armed with the Snapdragon 615 Chipset that has a 1.5 GHz octa-core processor and 1.5 GB of RAM. This phone has 16 GB of internal storage as well as a 128 GB micro SD card slot.
The LYF Water 1 is armed with the same octa-core Snapdragon 615 which is clocked at 1.5 GHZ. The phone has 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal storage, to which you can add another 32 GB via a microSD card.
The LYF Water 1 is ahead of the Samsung Galaxy J7 thanks to 512 MB of extra RAM, but doesn’t match up when it comes to the storage capacity
Software
The Samsung Galaxy J7 runs on Android Lollipop (with the well-known Samsung Touch Wiz OS). The LYF Water 1 too runs Android Lollipop.
Battery
The Samsung Galaxy J7 has a 3000 mAh battery that can provide up to 9 hours of internet usage on 3G. The LYF Water 1 has a 2600 mAh which claims to offer up to 5 hours of talk time on 3G or up to 185 hours of standby time. The Samsung Galaxy J7 is the winner, thanks to the 400 mAh extra.
Camera
The Samsung Galaxy J7 has a 13 Megapixel primary camera with auto-focus, CMOS sensor, and a flash light. This camera can record full HD videos. For selfies, the phone offers a 5 megapixel front camera.
The LYF Water 1 too is armed with a 13 megapixel rear camera as well as a 5 megapixel selfie shooter.
Spec for spec, both these phones are alike, and it is difficult to call a winner till a real world test occurs.
Connectivity
The LYF Water 1 is a Dual-SIM device with 4G, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS (A-GPS), and WiFi.
The Samsung Galaxy J7 is a dual-SIM phone with 4G, GPS (A-GPS and GLONASS), Bluetooth 4.1.1, WiFi, and NFC.
Wrapping Up
The LYF Water 1 offers more value for money, as it has a full HD display and 2 GB of RAM (compared to 1.5 GB of the Samsung). But it does not match up to the Samsung Galaxy J7 when it comes to screen size, battery, or storage space.
