Redmi 8 receives MIUI 11 update in India

Redmi 8 is getting the update with version number MIUI 11.0.1.0.PCNINXM and the update weighs about 600MB.

After rolling out the MIUI 11 update to Redmi 8A smartphone last week, Xiaomi has now rolled the MIUI 11 update to Redmi 8 as well. The update brings new features along with the latest security patch to Redmi 8.

Redmi 8 is getting the update with version number MIUI11.0.1.0.PCNINXM and the update weighs about 600MB. The MIUI 11 update also brings along the October 2019 security patch to Redmi 8.

MIUI 11 brings features like a new minimalistic design, new dynamic sound effects inspired by the sounds of nature including animal, water and fire noises, updated Mi File Manager app, Steps Tracker, Wallpaper Carousel, and even a Floating Calculator. There’s also a new Mi Share file transfer tool and Mi Doc Viewer. It also brings continuous swipe for an additional menu in Game Turbo and a home screen shortcut inside the mode.

Redmi 8 was launched in India recently at Rs 7,999 for the 3GB + 32GB and Rs 8,999 for the 4GB + 64GB variants, respectively. As an introductory offer, the 4GB variant will be available for Rs 7,999 for the first five million customers.

Redmi 8 features a 6.22-inch 2.5D curved glass dot-notch display with a resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels. It runs on Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10.0.1.3 on top. It has an dual rear camera setup with 12-megapixel primary Sony IMX 363 sensor with an f/1.8 and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with LED Flash. On the front, it features an 8-megapixel AI selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The phone is backed up by a 5000mAh battery with 18W support but will be shipped with a 10W charger in the box.

It is powered by 2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 439 coupled with upto 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The phone also comes with an option to expand the storage of up to 512GB with a card. It also has face unlock tech and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
