Over 4 lakh Xiaomi Redmi 5 units to be available in the first sale tomorrow

Xiaomi Redmi 5 comes with a price tag of Rs 7,999 for the 2GB RAM and Rs 8,999 for the 3GB RAM variant.

Xiaomi launched Redmi 5 last week in India with a price tag of Rs 7,999 for the 2GB RAM and Rs 8,999 for the 3GB RAM variant. The smartphone is set to go on sale tomorrow exclusively on Amazon Inda, Mi.com and Mi Home Stores in India. Now ahead of the sale, Xiaomi has announced that it will be selling over four lakh units of the Redmi 5 in the first flash sale tomorrow.

The development was confirmed by Redmi India official twitter handle post. The company’s tweet says “Mi fans! We heard you and just to meet your overwhelming love, we are bringing the largest quantity ever. Over 4 lakh #Redmi5 will go on sale on 20th March – 12 noon. How many of you are waiting to get India’s #CompactPowerhouse? Available on https://Mi.com and @amazonIN”.

The major highlight of the device is the latest 18:9 display. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 features a 5.7-inch display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. The device is powered by a 1.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 450 processor, along with Adreno 506 GPU. It is backed by a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, while there is another variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Further, there is another variant that comes loaded with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The memory can be further expanded up to 128GB via card.

The smartphone runs on 7.1.2 Nougat operating system with MIUI 9 on top of it and is backed up by a 3200mAh battery. On the camera front, Redmi 5 smartphone sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, 1.25μm pixel size, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash for selfies and video chats. The smartphone has a fingerprint scanner which will be placed on its back panel. Besides, the smartphone offers Dual SIM, LTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), 4.2, GPS, and a port. The handset measures 151.8 × 72.8 × 7.7 mm and weighs 157 grams.
