Oppo has launched Oppo R17 and Oppo R17 Pro New Year’s Edition smartphones in China. The Oppo R17 New Year’s Edition is priced at 2,799 Yuan (approx. Rs 28,900), and the Oppo R17 Pro New Year’s Edition is priced at 4,299 Yuan (approx. Rs 44,400). Both the smartphones come with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and the sale will start on December 21 in China.
In terms of specifications, both phones sport the same set of specs as the existing variants except they have a golden logo of a piglet on the bottom of the rear panel. This is because as per the Chinese calendar, the next year is considered to be the year of the pig. Also, these phones are running on the specialized designed New Year themed UI. The rear of both the New Year’s Edition have a warm red colour with gradient effect.

The Oppo R17 Pro comes with a 6.4-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) waterdrop notch display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 16 million colours and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. It is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 710 (Dual 2.2GHz Kryo 360 + Hexa 1.7GHz Kryo 360) with Adreno 616 GPU and comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal memory. The R17 Pro also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
For the camera department, the Oppo R17 Pro comes equipped with the triple rear camera setup with a combination of a 12-megapixel primary sensor with variable Aperture (f/1.5-2.4) and OIS and a 20-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.6 aperture, coupled with an LED flash. The third Time of Flight (TOF) 3D sensing camera is a TOF 3D stereo camera captures 3D photos. The front camera houses a 25-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture, AI, Sony IMX576 sensor, 3D Portrait.
The smartphone has a 3700mAh capacity battery with Super VOOC Flash Charge technology and it runs on the Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.1 out of the box.
Oppo R17 has an in-display fingerprint sensor and features a 6.4-inch (2280 × 1080 pixels) Full HD+ display, Corning Gorilla Glass protection, 91.5% screen-to-body ratio and an aspect ratio of 19:9. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a 1.7GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 670 Processor coupled with 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage.

It has a 25-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, Sony IMX576 and AI Portrait mode. It runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo) with ColorOS 5.2 and is backed up by 3500mAh battery with VOOC flash charge.
