Nokia offer: Buy a Lumia smartphone and get 20 GB SkyDrive storage for free

Nokia has introduced a promotional offer that includes 20 GB free SkyDrive storage for one year with the purchase of new Lumia smartphone.

If you are planning to purchase a new Lumia smartphone, then here is a good news for you – Nokia is now offering 20 GB SkyDrive cloud storage for free with new Lumia smartphones under a promotional offer. The offer is meant for all Lumia smartphones with Windows Phone 8 except the new Lumia 525 and Lumia 520.

Nokia’s new promotion of 20 GB free storage is applicable for those Lumia smartphones purchased between 7 January 2014 and 10 February 2014 inclusive of the dates. The users who purchased Lumia devices are required to register their device at this link- http://www.nokia.com/in-en/20gbfree/redemption. Registration of the qualifying devices can be done till 15 February. Once the registration is done, Microsoft will send the 20 GB SkyDrive free storage redemption code via Email. For more details, visit the 20 GB free SkyDrive storage offer page.

After that, the user can redeem the free 20 GB SkyDrive storage any time before 28 February 2014 from this link – https://skydrive.live.com/options/ManageStorage.

The strategy to offer free Cloud storage has existed for the Google Android based devices too. Samsung and HTC have been offering free 25 GB Cloud Storage with the Dropbox services for select devices. Under this offer, users buying an eligible Google Android based device from Samsung or HTC can log into Dropbox app and claim the free 25 GB storage for two years. Even Google lured its Android users with free 10 GB storage on Google Drive by downloading the QuickOffice app.

We believe Microsoft and Nokia should offer some relaxation on this “time limited” offer. The free 20 GB SkyDrive storage offer makes sense for a user buying Lumia 1020 or other Lumia device with no memory card slot. The additional cloud storage will aid the user to make the best of the device instead of lamenting on the lack of expandable storage.
