Nokia will launch its 41 Megapixel camera bearing Pure View 808 smartphone in India this month for an expected price of Rs 40,000.
Nokia said in a statement, “Nokia 808 PureView will start rolling out in select markets in May. The first markets to begin selling the Nokia 808 PureView include Russia and India”. Announced during the Mobile World Congress earlier this year, the Nokia Pure View 808 features a single-core 1.3 GHz mobile processor with 512 MB RAM.
The smartphone will come with a big 41 megapixel Carl Zeiss image sensor with Xenon flash. Bearing the f/2.8 aperture, the 41 megapixel camera promises 7728×5354 resolution images in 16:9 formats. With the new Pure View Pro imaging technology, the company has managed to use a technique of over-sampling for crystal-clear and noise-less 5 megapixel images. The superb imaging capability is further aided by a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) that uses a special algorithm which combines seven different pixels in to a one better pixel.
The camera also supports up to 4x Digital Zoom without compromising on the quality. It also allows capturing full 1080p HD videos at 30 frames per second with up to 3x Zoom while for the 720p HD resolution, one can go up to 6x zoom.
Nokia 808 will run on Belle operting system which will bring Dolby Mobile Plus for 5.1 channel surround sound playback feature to the device. Nokia has packed a 1400 mAh battery which promises 11 hours of battery life on EDGE and 6.5 hours of battery life on 3G networks.
Nokia has not disclosed the details of the processor and the graphics chip used in it. By default the smartphone comes with 16 GB on-board storage and can support up to 32 GB micro SD card.
In terms of pricing Nokia has remained silent but the company in Italy has started with a prebooking campaign for the he device and have put a price tag of 599 Euros, or Rs 40,000 approximately.
