Nokia 6 (2018) receives Android Oreo update at first boot

The update also brings in the ability to install Google Services onto the phone as it is exclusive to China.

Recently, HMD Global launched Nokia 6 (2018) Android 7.1.1 Nougat in China. Now as per a report, the device has started receiving an Android Oreo update along with support for Google Play.

According to a recent NokiaPowerUser report, a software update arrives immediately after booting up the device and the update rolls out Android Oreo to the smartphone. The update also brings in the ability to install Google Services onto the phone as it is exclusive to China.

After the Oreo update, the smartphone will have picture-in-picture mode that lets users to two tasks simultaneously. So, for example, one can minimise a YouTube video while sending a text message or writing an email. Android Oreo has other features like including Background limits, installation of apps via APK, over 60 new emojis, notification dots, Wide-gamut colour for apps, Snoozing individual notification, Adaptive icons, Keyboard navigation, WebView enhancements and much more.

The Nokia 6 (2018) smartphone is priced at 1499 Yuan which is approximately Rs 14,655 for the 32GB internal storage variant while the 64GB internal storage variant will cost you 1699 Yuan which is approximately 16,610. The device comes in Black and Silver colour variants.

Nokia 6 comes with a 5.5-inch full with a screen resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and 2.5d curved display with 3 protection. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 2.2 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 along with Adreno 508 GPU. The phone is backed by 4GB of and 32GB/64GB internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD. It also houses a fingerprint scanner, which lies on the back of the device.

On the camera front, the smartphone flaunts a 16-megapixel camera with PDAF, 1.0um sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and dual-tone flash. While at the front, we have an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with a 1.12um sensor and f/2.0 for selfies and video calling. Nokia 6 (2018) comes with dual view mode which will allow you to capture feeds from both front and rear camera at the same time. It runs on the Android 7.1.1 Nougat and is powered by a 3000 mAh non-removable battery with fast charging. On the connectivity front, the smartphone offers hybrid Dual SIM, VoLTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), 5, GPS, Type C, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, Dual speakers, Dual smart amplifiers, and Dolby Atmos.
