Dell to focus more on emerging markets with smartphones

Dell winding up its smartphone business in the USA, the new strategy laid out focuses more on emerging markets.

Global PC manufacturer Dell, which has decided to stop its mobile phone business in countries like the United States, will continue to sell smartphones in emerging markets like India and other countries outside the USA.

While talking to the PC World, a Dell spokesperson said that “mobility products have a shorter lifespan than notebooks and desktops” and going forward Dell aims at focusing on its computing business in USA.

Dell had discontinued its based tablets some time back in the United States but no similar discontinuation policy was announced for countries like India.

Curiously, Dell is planning to announce the launch of Windows based tablet sometime this year. Dell is now counting on devices that offer both utility and computing muscle such as their Windows 8 based tablet which according to the company will be much better than Android based devices that have now become common for most countries.

The Windows 8 based tablet will form a perfect computing tool for users and will be ideal for home and office use as well and with the smartphone business now out of the game, Dell will surely be focusing on newer devices and users can expect a lot many exciting products from the company in the days to come.
