Croma launches smartphones and tablet

Croma retail has launched two new smartphones and a tablet. We checked out Smartphone 4.65 and found it lacking in quality and specs.

Tata Group’s Infinity Retail, the company behind Croma retail stores, has announced the first Croma branded phones in the country.

Called Croma Smartphone 4.63 inch (CRCB2093) and Croma Smartphone 5.3 inch, the phones have been priced at Rs 8,990 and Rs 10,990 respectively. And while 4.63 inch is already available Croma 5.3 will be available in a short while.

Croma Android phones

Croma Smartphone 4.63 inch comes with a FWVGA (854 x 480 pixel) display. The phone is powered by a 1 GHz MediaTek MTK6577 dual core processor. It also features Android 4.0, 512 RAM and 4 internal storage.

Croma Smartphone 5.3 inch runs on Android 4.1 and is powered by a 1 GHz dual core processor. The phone features a 5.3 inch display and 8 rear camera. Croma is also selling a 7 inch tablet called Croma CRXT 1134. The tablet is powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and (Rockchip 2928) 1.0 GHz coupled with 512 MB RAM, and supports 2G SIM. For 3G, however, you will need to connect a dongle. This tablet sports a 7 inch display with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. It comes with dual cameras (no specs mentioned on Croma’s website). It is priced at Rs 6,990.

We checked the Croma store for these products and found the 4.63 version in store. Quality-wise we felt that the phone was not up to the mark. Even the hardware used is not really exciting and there are many handsets in the market – Lava Iris 502, Byond B65 and many more from players like Xolo, Spice, Intex, Karbonn and Micromax – which come with 4.5 inch qHD displays and with much better quality and specifications.
