Apple’s iPhone 6 is getting accolades every passing day since its launch (except the bendgate scandal) and so is the Sony Xperia Z3. Both the phones are today considered as top camera smartphones. So here are some sample images that we have captured via the rear cameras of the phones.
But before we go all out, here is a recap of their features. Sony Xperia Z3 sports a 20.7 Megapixel rear camera which is coupled with a wide-angle 25mm ‘G’ Lens and its camera App has features like AR Fun, Time-shift video, background defocus and Face in.
On the other hand, Apple iPhone 6 comes with an 8 megapixel primary camera with phase-based autofocus, and a dual-LED dual-tone flash light. On the price front, Xperia Z3 currently retailing around Rs 51,990 while 16 GB version of Apple iPhone 6 costs Rs 53,500.
A few days back I had reviewed Sony Xperia Z3 in which I had stated that in auto mode, one will be able to capture good pictures but if you want to have better results explore the camera in detail (manual mode).
Now the time has come to pitch the rear cameras of iPhone 6 and Xperia Z3 against each other and check out which one is better.

Shot in broad daylight
In ample natural lighting, as in this case of a shot taken in forenoon, both Xperia Z3 and iPhone 6 managed to capture plenty of detail but the color reproduction was much better in case of iPhone 6’s camera.

Long shot
In this case too, Xperia Z3 and iPhone 6 did equally well in capturing details but colour reproduction was much better in the sample captured via iPhone 6.

Mid Range Shot
For me both the shots were good except that in iPhone 6’s click, colour of sand was slightly closer to its real colour.

Detailing in both the snaps was equivalent but again colour reproduction varied significantly.

Almost similar! Isn’t it? Yes to some extent but iPhone 6 managed to capture more light.

In Sony Xperia Z3 colour of flower was a bit washed out. Apple iPhone 6’s snap was as good as real.

In this comparison iPhone 6 was a clear winner as it showed better detailing and was clearer as compared to that of Xperia Z3.

What do Think? For me both looked like identical twins with a slight difference in skin tone.

Dim lit conditions
These shots were taken in below average lighting conditions without flash. As compared iPhone 6, Xperia Z3’s picture had a better detailing but the soil in the foreground appears a bit darker.

Night shot with flash
We had captured the following pictures in almost zero lighting using the flash. Rear camera of Xperia Z3 was the clear winner in this duel as its picture quality and colour reproduction was better than that of iPhone 6.
