Asus today announced to launch a new ZenFone series smartphone which, it said will come equipped with high end cameras. Though it did not reveal the name of the device but most expect it to be the Zenfone Zoom which was earlier scheduled to be released in India last year itself.
“Asus is gearing up to reinvent smartphone photography. Scheduled to hit the Indian market later this month, the new addition to Asus’ expanding smartphone range, the imaging-masterpiece will truly enable the users to ‘See The World Up Close’!,” Asus said in a press note.
Asus further added, “Designed to be a photographer’s delight, the new device will come equipped with unprecedented hardware technology for the clearest and sharpest images ever captured through a smartphone while maintaining award-winning aesthetics synonymous with Asus.”
As per Asus, the new ZenFone smartphone will have a 13 megapixel primary camera which will have 3X optical zoom, laser auto focus and 10 lenses with optical image stabilization feature. The handset will have a quad-core processor as well as 4 GB RAM.
The Zenfone Zoom too has the same primary camera, RAM as well as the processor. Besides, Zenfone Zoom offers DSLR-style shooting experience. Camera features of Zenfone Zoom include- f/2.7 â€“ f/4.8 aperture, 10-element Hoya lens, Laser auto focus, optical image stabilization (OIS), close-up shots with up to 12X magnification and Professional Panasonic SmartSFI sensor for optimized image. The ZenFone Zoom is also equipped with a 5 megapixel front camera for selfie lovers.
Besides this, Asus ZenFone Zoom features a a 5.5-inch FHD display (1920 x 1080 pixels) along with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and has anti-fingerprint coating too. It is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom processor and 4GB RAM. The Zenfone Zoom comes in two variants – 64GB and 128GB of internal storage, which the user can further expand via a micro SD card by another up to 64 GB. The handset runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system with ASUS ZenUI on top, and is packed with 3000 mAh non-removable lithium-polymer battery along with ASUS BoostMaster technology that charges the battery from zero to 60% in just 39 minutes.
Connectivity options include 4G, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, WiFi Direct, GPS with A-GPS/GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.0, and microUSB 2.0 port. The handset measures 158.9 x 78.84 x 11.95~5 mm and weighs 185 grams and in the sensors department it has Accelerometer, proximity, ambient light, gyroscope, digital compass and Hall-effect sensors.
