Toshiba Thrive tablet to be rectified soon

0

Yesterday we reported that, Toshiba Thrive, the new entrant in the tablet market, is facing some major problems.

According to some users, when the Thrive goes into sleep mode, it doesn’t come out of it without reset. Another site suggests that the Toshiba Thrive tablets start randomly.

Now Toshiba has said that they are aware of the issue and are working on a fix, which will be available soon. However they did not clarify whether the problem is with hardware or software, and what will be the nature of the fix. They have also not provided any dates for the release of the fix.

Right now it is not clear if the problem is due to hardware wiring or software. If the problem is software related, all it might require to fix the problem is an over the air update.

It appears the flaw is there even with fresh devices when users have not installed any on it. The company is yet to come out with a formal response to the issue.

Microsoft releases to-do list app for Windows Phone

0

Microsoft has released a new social networks focused to-do list &#151 Dotastic, for its Windows Phone 7 phones. The Dotastic app apparently helps one achieve a set of to-do tasks with the help of the social network of friends.

Windows Phone Metro noted that the Dotastic application is now available in the Windows Marketplace or through the Zune PC Software.

Dotastic is a social flavoured to-do app that will keep you abreast with the things that need to be done by you. The users are required to link their social network accounts with the app. After that, the social network of friends is expected to keep the user motivated to finish off tasks faster.

Here is what the app description states: Dotastic is a fun way to challenge your friends and help each other get things done. Earn points for completing tasks and compete with your friends to be at the top of the leaderboard. Incentives and social pressure helps you stay motivated as you complete your tasks and share your achievements with everyone.

Basically a user has to stay under “social pressure” to compete and complete the tasks to earn as many points possible. Friends will challenge the user to complete a designated task in stipulated time and on completing the task, certain points would be awarded. Hence, the user constantly keeps a tab of the leaderboards and needs to stay on the top by earning lots of points.

If you visit the www.dotastic.com website then it carries a notification &#151 coming soon. Looks like one needs to complete as many tasks possible in as less time as possible to earn more points but so far the point system is not clear.

Dotastic app is available from Windows Marketplace App on the Windows Phone 7 devices and also accessible via Zune PC software.

Mobile gaming has emerged as a promising new frontier as more and more people migrate from PC or console gaming to handheld gaming. The era, which was commenced by devices such as Nokia nGage, has undergone a drastic change. Today people’s perspective has changed completely towards mobile gaming and the expectations from handheld gaming devices will only rise in times to come.

Here, we have short listed five top smartphones on the basis of gaming. These smartphones are not just exceptional gaming devices but work as efficient official smartphones as well. Short listing is done on the basis of personal experience with devices and by taking their features into consideration.

There are several things about the Xperia Play that make it a perfect gaming phone. To begin with, this is an officially certified PlayStation device with PSP-like controls including trackpads, which are capacitive in order to save space.
