The regular YouTube Music app and desktop client offers free music streaming, while YouTube Music Premium offers the same without ads. YouTube has also announced YouTube Premium to offer ad-free services across all YouTube videos and not just YouTube Music content.

This is YouTube’s take on Instagram’s scrollable interface which plays videos on mute when there is one. The Autoplay on home was previously a YouTube Premium feature and now comes to the mobile version of YouTube, allowing users a preview of the video that they’re about to watch without audio.

Stories on Instagram last up to a day but YouTube Stories will last for up to seven days on the mobile app. A creator’s story will be available to subscribers as well as non-subscribers and will also be displayed in the “Up Next” section beside the main video tile.

The YouTube VR renders support for standard videos in a VR theatre mode as well as 360-degree videos. Users will be able to pair with friends and watch videos with others wearing other headsets. This means users will be able to watch live concerts, enjoy simulated clips and documentaries.

YouTube’s imitation of the Stories section doesn’t stop there as the feature itself looks similar in UI to the one of Instagram. The only way you’d be able to distinguish an Instagram or YouTube story is through the red-ring that surrounds a new Story which is apparent to the main colour of the brand that is YouTube.

With the latest update now comes a new bug that makes it difficult for users to move a video forward or backwards on Android. YouTube has acknowledged this bug and that has promised that it will soon roll out a fix to solve this issue. Users can still slide the red button that sits on the progress bar.

There will be a toggle in the Settings menu that will allow users to continue to watch videos when they press home button. However, it is important to note that the uploader can restricted the access for picture-in-picture mode and currently most of the music videos won't work in this mode.
