Officials from the government have requested WhatsApp to allow traceability of messages shared within the platform without disabling the service’s end-to-end encryption. Reacting to the story, WhatsApp said it has “nothing new to add” to what was previously said on the matter.

WhatsApp users can report and submit what they think is misinformation to Checkpoint Tipline at +919643000888, directly on WhatsApp. Once a WhatsApp user shares a suspicious message with the tipline, PROTO's verification centre will seek to respond and inform the user if the claim made in a message shared is verified or not.

WhatsApp’s new privacy lock screen can be bypassed within a few steps. The bug is associated with iOS’ sharing menu which allows users to share content via WhatsApp. In order to get through to the main chat screen without FaceID or TouchID verification, the user clicked on the WhatsApp icon inside the iOS Share Sheet.

The new feature enables users to watch videos in a floating window while using the app’s other chat features simultaneously.
