The news comes from a January Software Update Notice page in LG South Korea official page, confirming that Android Pie OS has been applied alongside the latest update. With Android Pie, the G7 ThinQ smartphone will be able to equip the latest gesture navigation system and new Recent apps switcher.
A user has posted a video on the internet that shows the refreshed user interface of the new LG G7 ThinQ.
The update shifts the device firmware to version F700S30d and in addition to running Android Oreo will boast of the latest August 2018 batch of Android security updates. Weighing in at around 2.3GB, the update will first be seeded to LG G5 users in its home country before being released globally and then to India.
The latest update also brings the AI capabilities and adds ThinQ branding to the smartphone. The update brings a host of new improvements to the table. To start with, users will get Comfort view, a blue light filter that can be adjusted between 10 levels. It also adds to feature to hide home buttons while using apps.
The LG flagship comes under the same price bracket as the OnePlus 6 and Asus’ Zenfone 5Z, both of which were released in India recently with similar specifications. The successor to last year’s LG G6 comes powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The LG G7 sports a 6.1-inch QHD+ Super Bright FullVision Display with a maximum brightness of 1000 nits, a resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
LG Q6 was launched in India last year with Android 7.1 for Rs 14,990. As of now the update is now rolled out in South Korea, but it is also expected to be soon rolled out globally as well.
LG G7 ThinQ will become the first smartphone beyond Pixel lineup to come loaded with this feature. The AR Stickers will be added in the native camera mode and the functionality will be exactly the same as we have seen in Pixel lineup. Google introduced AR Stickers with the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones.
