It will also have Zeiss APO technology, which uses apochromatic correction lens to minimize chromatic aberrations, thereby improving image clarity and reducing colour fringing. This zoom lens also supports tele-macro shots. This technology also enables 200mm telephoto zoom.

Apple TV+ on Android is Coming But Not in the Way You Expected

0

Update 02/04/2025: Prime Video has announced the launch of Apple TV+ add-on through its service in India for an additional Rs 99 per month. Prime members who subscribe to Apple TV+ via Prime Video can stream exclusive shows and movies with new releases weekly. Prime members will be able to subscribe to Apple TV+ with no extra apps to download beyond Prime Video. The subscription can be cancelled at any time.

Original Story Below

Apple TV+ is Apple’s streaming service but Apple does allow TV users to stream content via the Apple TV+ app. While it doesn’t offer an Android app on mobile, soon, you will be able to stream content via Apple TV+ on Android through the Amazon Prime video app, specifically in the US for now.

As announced by Amazon, Apple TV+ will be available via Prime Video in the US as an add-on subscription for $9.99 (approx Rs 838) per month. Prime members who subscribe to Apple TV+ via Prime Video will have access to the full catalog of the streaming service including Severance, Slow Horses, The Morning Show, Presumed Innocent, Shrinking, Hijack, Loot, Palm Royale, as well as global hit films such as Wolfs, The Instigators and more, plus Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball sporting events.

Once it becomes available later this month, Prime members will be able to subscribe to Apple TV+ with no extra apps to download beyond Prime Video, and no cable required. The subscription can be canceled at any time. In other words, you’ll be able to access Apple TV+ on Android via the Prime Video app. While users were expecting an Apple TV+ app built for Android to watch content from the streaming platform, that doesn’t seem to be happening for now.

In India, Apple TV+ content will be soon accessible via Airtel’s Xstream Premium streaming service, as announced by Airtel back in August this year. This means Android users in India will be able to watch Apple TV+ content via Airtel. In addition to Apple TV+, Airtel will also provide exclusive Apple Music offers to its Wynk Premium users. Wynk Music is Airtel’s own music streaming service, and its users will now be transitioned to Apple Music, which will give them access to a wide range of global and Indian music, curated playlists, artist interviews, and Apple Music Radio.

Back in May this year, a report suggested that Apple was hiring for an engineer to help build a new TV and sports application for the Android operating system, suggesting potential launch of the Apple TV+ app on the platform. However, there has been no update on the development of the app since then.

YouTube Video Player UI on Android Updated With a New Look

0

YouTube Video Player user interface has been updated with new elements and existing ones being repositioned. Report suggests that those users who have received the update haven’t appreciated the new user interface. Here’s everything you can expect from the new YouTube Video player UI.

As reported by Android Authority first, Google is now A/B testing a new video player in the YouTube for Android app. The tip publication received from a reddit user suggests that Google is making some big changes to the video player’s interface. In the new UI, the video title has been relocated above the progress bar, and the channel icon and subscriber count are now displayed alongside the channel name. The view count and published date are positioned below the title.

The expand button has been moved to the top left, with a rotate button placed next to it. Additionally, a second playlist button now occupies the spot where the expand button used to be, just above the progress bar. It appears that the forward and backward buttons are missing in fullscreen mode, though they do show up if the video is paused while in portrait mode.

In the updated UI, the like, dislike, comment, share, and more buttons have been relocated to the right side, just above the progress bar. Additionally, the number of likes and comments is now displayed below these buttons. The bookmark button has been moved under the menu, while the Remix button is now shown by default. A new button to view video chapters has also been added to the bottom-left, positioned next to the second pause button.

If you are watching videos in a playlist, you can now swipe up and down to move between videos in a playlist. You can swipe down to minimize a video only if it’s the first video in a playlist or if it’s not part of a playlist at all.

Samsung AI Home Appliances to Get Knox Matrix, Passkeys Support and More

0

Samsung home appliances will soon Knox Matrix support. The company aims to strengthen the security of not only individual products but also interconnected devices, providing users with peace of mind when using AI home appliances, says the company. Here’s everything to know about the development.

At Samsung Developer Conference 2024 (SDC24), Samsung announced plans to extend Knox Matrix from mobile devices and TVs to home appliances following Samsung Knox’s expansion. “Knox Matrix provides integrated protection for interconnected devices, allowing them to mutually monitor for security threats and notify users of threat-blocking measures,” says the brand.

In addition, Samsung AI home appliances will also get mobile biometric authentication next year — eliminating the need to enter IDs and passwords and preventing login information from being exposed.

What is Samsung Knox Matrix?

As for what is Knox Matrix, it is a security solution that comprehensively protects connected devices and networks using private blockchain technology. The system consists of Trust Chain, Cross Platform and Credential Sync.

Based on blockchain technology, Trust Chain allows connected devices to monitor each other for security threats and notifies users of threat-blocking measures if there is a problem with the security status.

Cross Platform ensures consistent security standards are applied to connected devices, even if they run on different operating systems (OS) and platforms. Credential Sync encrypts data shared between devices and synchronizes credentials to maintain security.

First introduced to the 2024 Bespoke 4-Door Refrigerator with AI Family Hub, Credential Sync uses end-to-end (E2EE) technology to share data between devices on the server. Information can be safely shared between connected devices, and existing user data can be restored when a new product is purchased.

Samsung plans to expand the application of Knox Matrix’s Trust Chain, Cross Platform and Credential Sync to major products such as the refrigerator with AI Family Hub beginning next year.

Passkeys Support

Samsung also announced that Passkey will be introduced next year to the refrigerator with AI Family Hub as well as home appliances equipped with the 7-inch AI Home screen. Part of Credential Sync, Passkey is a digital credential that allows users to log in to home appliance apps and websites using such as fingerprints on their smartphones.

Furthermore, Samsung AI home appliances will also get Knox Vault support starting next year to further improve hardware-based security. Samsung home appliances equipped with Knox Vault will store sensitive personal information such as passwords and biometric data on a separate hardware security chip — protecting sensitive information from OS-based security breaches or physical hacks.

Xbox App on Android to Get Support for Xbox Games

0

With a court ruling going against Google, allowing other companies to distribute their apps via an App Store present within the Google Play Store, there must be a load of brands who would’ve been looking to grab this opportunity. One of them is Xbox, and it has now been confirmed that the Xbox app on Android will soon get support for Xbox games.

Sarah Bond, President of Xbox, announced on X that the Xbox app on Android will be updated with support for buying and playing Xbox games directly in the app beginning November. “The court’s ruling to open up Google´s mobile store in the US will allow more choice and flexibility. Our mission is to allow more players to play on more devices so we are thrilled to share that starting in November, players will be able to play and purchase Xbox games directly from the Xbox App on Android,” she wrote.

Bond is referring to the recent court ruling where Google is now required to allow rival third-party app stores access to its full catalog of Google Play apps, unless developers specifically choose to opt out. This policy means that unless developers actively decide not to participate, their apps will be made available on other app stores beyond Google Play. The jury’s decision applies to Google for three years, starting November 1st, 2024, and ending November 1st, 2027.

Earlier in May, Bond made a similar announcement where it said that Xbox will be launching a new Xbox Mobile Gaming Store for Android on web in July, similar to Epic’s Game store. However, an actual launch never happened.

With the latest development, it seems like Xbox will allow players on Android to access the full catalog of Xbox games to purchase and play via cloud gaming, not natively on the device itself. We’ll know more about Xbox’s intentions once the Xbox app on Android begins distributing Xbox games later next month.

X Creator Revenue Sharing Program Updated, Earn Based on Engagement and Not Ads

0

X creator revenue sharing program has received a major update, where X says that Premium subscribers will now get their payouts based on engagement with your content from premium users instead of ads in replies, which was the previous implementation. Here’s everything that’s changing or is improving on X.

“Payouts are increasing and you’ll now be paid based on engagement with your content from Premium users – not ads in replies,” said X via its official account on the platform. As a result, Ads in replies will no longer impact your payout. Instead, you’ll be paid based on engagement with your content from Premium users. “So, when your followers subscribe to X Premium and engage with your content, they support you directly,” said the brand.

Revenue from “verified ads impressions” in replies won’t affect revenue sharing beginning November 8th, according to an X support page. Moreover, X says that the payouts on the platform are also increasing as X Premium continues to grow. “The more Premium subscriptions overall, the more revenue you earn,” read one of the posts.

Meanwhile, the X Premium account posted that it has made improvements to the X Creator Revenue Sharing Program. Up to 25% of the Premium subscription now goes directly to creators. “Our goal is to make it possible for anyone to earn a living on X,” the company said.

X further notes that it has certain Spam prevention systems in place to prevent abuse of the updated X Creator Revenue Sharing program. “If our system detects spam engagements – like posting unrelated content in replies to farm views – we will penalize you to maintain the integrity of the platform,” the post adds. “Only genuine interactions from Premium users will be counted toward your earnings.”

According to X’s creator revenue-sharing guidelines, users caught manipulating or boosting the view counts on their posts will be disqualified from the program.

Nothing OS 3.0 for Nothing Phone (2), Nothing Phone (2a) Will be Released Simultaneously

0

Nothing announced the roadmap of its Open Beta of Nothing OS 3.0 for Nothing Phone (2), Phone (2a), Phone (2a) Plus, Phone (1), and the CMF Phone 1 earlier this week. Following the announcement, users were surprised to see the Phone (2a) receiving the Open Beta of Nothing OS 3.0 ahead of the Phone (2), the brand’s flagship model, especially since the Phone (2a) is a lower-end mid-range device. Nothing has since provided an explanation for why this occurred and said that the Phone (2) and Phone (2a) will receive the stable build of Nothing OS 3.0 simultaneously

As explained in a community post, Nothing says that it is a young company, and has a relatively smaller team than established brands developing and maintaining Nothing OS. Due to that, it has to make choices about how the teams do the work that’s needed to ensure it is maintaining the quality and pace of development the company desires.

“Staggering releases is a tried-and-tested method that even the biggest makers use and it’s the one we’ve chosen as well. It allows us to gather the feedback we need to make adjustments and fixes that roll into the other devices in the portfolio,” said the brand.

As for why Phone (2a) received Open Beta of Nothing OS 3.0 before Phone (2), the brand explained that it prioritised its newest and best-selling phones: Phone (2a), so it could receive the “best feedback.” The Software team aims to use the larger sample size to collect the insight they need and then rapidly move to Phone (2) and close on Phone (1) / Phone (2a) Plus and CMF Phone 1, says Nothing.

Furthermore, Nothing noted that it received significant support from MediaTek as to how quick it optimised the software for the Dimensity 7200 Pro that’s used in the Nothing Phone (2a), compared to Qualcomm’s turnaround time for the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 employed in the Phone (2).

”So instead of holding it back to wait for the Phone (2) implementation, we wanted some of our users to start testing Nothing OS 3.0 beta as soon as possible. This allows us to begin collecting feedback and ensure we’re ready to start rolling out Nothing OS 3.0 public release by the end of the year,” read the community post.

Nothing says it “could do all the betas at the same time” but it would have caused a delay in releasing the first open beta, which would have made users wait until January and further pushing out the full release. “We talked about this option but rejected it as we felt you would prefer to try it as quickly as possible and, for us, it would mean delaying vital feedback,” the post added.

Nothing also confirmed that it will improve the release timelines in the future as it continues to receive feedback from users, scale its capabilities, and update its processes.

In addition, the company announced that the final and stable build of Nothing OS 3.0 for Nothing Phone (2) and Phone (2a) will be released at the same time.

Microsoft is Pushing for Passkeys in Windows

0

In a move similar to that of Google’s, Microsoft is pushing for Passkeys in Windows with a better user interface and ease of access. “Passkeys are safer and easier to use than passwords, which are vulnerable to phishing and data breaches. That is why, in support of a passwordless future, we partnered in the FIDO alliance with other platforms in supporting passkeys,” said Microsoft in a blog post.

The blog post further reads that Microsoft is announcing a set of new features to better integrate Passkeys in Windows OS, which will be available in our Windows Insider channels in the coming months. These are as follows:

  • A Microsoft synced passkey provider
  • A plug-in model for third-party passkey providers
  • Enhanced native UX for passkeys

Microsoft has announced API support for third-party passkey providers to plug into the Windows 11 platform. Microsoft is partnering closely with 1Password, Bitwarden and others on integrating this capability to provide users with seamless third-party passkey provider integration into Windows 11. With this integration, you will be able to use the same passkey on Windows 11 that you’ve created on your mobile device.

Next, when creating and using passkeys, Windows 11 now has a redesigned Windows Hello experience. As a user, you can navigate to a website that supports passkeys and get prompted to select how you want to save your passkeys.

Then, you will be asked to complete a one-time setup with your Microsoft account, and you will be prompted to save a recovery key that will be used to verify your identity and protect your passkeys through end-to-end encryption. You can then seamlessly authenticate using your preferred sign-in method (facial recognition, fingerprint or PIN), and save your passkey with Windows Hello.

After creating a new passkey, you can choose to save it with Windows Hello and sync it for use on another Windows device. Simply sign in to another Windows 11 device with your Microsoft account, complete a one-time setup, and access your synced passkeys across all your Windows 11 PCs. Microsoft notes that the users’ passkeys are secured by end-to-end and safeguarded by the device’s Trusted Platform Module (TPM).

WhatsApp Chat Themes on Android Now Rolling Out in Beta

0

WhatsApp chat themes on are now rolling out shortly after they were made available on iOS earlier this week. The feature allows users to enhance their personalisation experience by selecting different themes with various colours for specific conversations, rather than being restricted to a single theme across the entire app.

As spotted by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp chat themes on Android are now available in the beta version of the app for select users. The feature is available in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.21.34 update. Same as on iOS, users will have access to 22 distinct themes and 20 colours to choose from.

With the new WhatsApp Chat themes on Android, users will get an option within the app settings to select a default chat theme that will be applied to all chats. In addition, for users who want more variety, they can choose different themes for specific conversations within the chat info screen, making it easier to differentiate between personal, work, and group chats.

WhatsApp will automatically assign a wallpaper based on the selected message colour to ensure the chat’s aesthetic matches the chosen theme. However, users have the option to select different wallpapers that better suit their preferences or the context of the conversation. This allows for chats with the same theme to still appear unique through different wallpaper choices.

Note that selecting a theme for a specific chat will not change how it appears on the recipient’s device unlike Instagram and Facebook Messenger chat themes.

The said version of WhatsApp Beta is available to download from Google if you have enrolled into the beta program. In addition, this is a phased rollout, which means that you just might not receive it and it might take a few days or couple of weeks to reach you.
