Less than a dozen devices were launched in India this week

This week too very few devices were launched in India. But there were few notable devices. Read on to find out more.

Xiaomi Mi 5

This was the most notable launch of this week. The Mi 5 was launched in India at Rs 24,999. This model comes with 3 RAM and 32 GB internal storage. The Xiaomi Mi 5 features a 5.15 inch display that has full HD resolution. It is powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor, along with Adreno 530 graphics processor, dual SIM, a fingerprint scanner and Marshmallow operating system.

The phone has a 16 megapixel rear camera that has Sony IMX298 sensor, 6P lens, phase detection auto focus feature, LED flash light support, optical image stabilization and sapphire glass protection for lens. The rear camera can record videos. For selfies, the Mi 5 offers a 4 megapixel front camera.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is fuelled by a 3000 mAh battery and comes with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. It has a USB Type C port too. Other than that, the Mi 5 offers WiFi (a/b/g/n/ac), 4.2 and NFC. The handset measures 144.5×69.2×7.25mm and weighs 129 grams.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 also has 2.0 storage which is said to offer 87 per cent faster read write speed than eMMC 5.0 storage which is found in other smartphones. The Mi 5 comes with 4G+ (CAT 12 modem) technology that can offer up to 600 speed. It also supports VoLTE.

Samsung Galaxy J3

Samsung announced the launch of its Galaxy J3 in India earlier this week. The highlight of this phone is its S Bike Mode which has been developed to make it easy for bikers to manage calls while driving. For details on S Bike Mode clickhere.

The Samsung Galaxy J3 has a 5 inch HD display with technology which claims to offer 100 more contrast and 40 per cent more colour than the TFT display. It has a 1.5 GHz quad core processor and 1.5 GB RAM. It comes with ultra data saving mode as well.

The Galaxy J3 has an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 5 meagpixel front camera – both comes with f2.2 aperture. This smartphone is just 7.9 mm thin.

Besides, the Android 5.1 Lollipop based Galaxy J3 has 8 GB internal storage, 128 GB micro card slot, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Micro-USB port and a 2600mAh battery.

Micromax Canvas Spark 3

The Canvas Spark 3 is another notable smartphone to be launched this week. It is priced at Rs 4,999 and will be available via flash sale on April 7th 2016 at 12:00 noon. The online registrations on Snapdeal website will start from 1st April 2016 where users can pre-book their smartphone.

The Canvas Spark 3 has a 5.5 inch IPS touchscreen that has high definition (720p) resolution. It has a 1.3 GHz quad core processor, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. Besides, it has a 2500 mAh battery, 8 megapixel auto focus rear camera and a 5 megapixel front facing camera. There is an LED flash light in its rear panel as well.

The Micromax Canvas Spark 3 comes preinstalled with Android Lollipop operating system. It is available in black and champagne gold colours. It claims to offer “clear, room-filling, deep sound” with its 2509 speaker with a 1.5 CC box. The phone has dual SIM, WiFi and Bluetooth as well. The phone comes preloaded with 10 regional languages.

Lava KKT Ultra+ Union

It is priced at Rs 1,500 and comes with 22 Indian language support such as Bengali, Gujrathi, Marathi, Kannada etc.

The device, as per reports, can be charged via thin charger as well as the normal USB charger. Besides, the KKT Ultra+ Union has Bluetooth, FM, audio/video player and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Celkon Diamond 4G Plus

The Celkon Diamond 4G Plus has a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720) IPS display and is powered by a 64-bit quad-core MediaTek processor, which is paired with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system and comes packed with a 2200 mAh Lithium ion battery.

Intex Cloud Gem+

It was announced at Rs 3,299 but it is available from Snapdeal at Rs 2,999. The smartphone comes in White and Black colours.

The Intex Cloud Gem+ has a 4-inch display that comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and 480×800 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-Core 32bit (Mediatek MT6580M Chipset) processor, which is paired with 512MB DDR2 RAM and Mali400 GPU.

Using its expandable storage slot, you can increase its memory by another 128GB via a micro SD card. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system with Funtouch OS 2.1 on top of it and is backed up by a 2200 mAh battery.

Samsung Gear S2

Last but not the least is the Gear S2- three new versions of this smartwatch were launched in India earlier this week. The Rose Gold and Platinum versions of the watch carry a price tag of Rs 34,900 while the white standard Gear S2 smartwatch is priced at Rs 24,300.

Both Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic offers 1.2 inch, circular Super AMOLED screen with 360×360 pixels resolution. They have 1 GHz dual core processor, Tizen operating system, 4 GB internal memory, 512 MB RAM, WiFi (b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC.

They have a 250 mAh battery that claims to offer 2-3 days of back up and these come with wireless charging facility. They have accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate monitor, ambient light and barometer sensors. Both the S2 and S2 Classic are certified and thus are water and dust resistant.

The Gear S2 measures 42.3×49.8×11.4mm and weighs 47 grams while the S2 Classic measures 39.9×43.6×11.4 mm and weighs 42 grams. They have rotating bezel, along with the Home and Back buttons for quicker, more precise method to comfortably access notifications and applications.

These smartwatches allow users to check calendars, e-mails, news and to send text messages.
