Samsung is set to announce the Galaxy Gear smartphone at the Mobile Unpacked 2013 event in Berlin, Germany. Images of the Galaxy Gear prototype were spotted online in last two days. Meanwhile, a website called Venture Beat has published few images of the smart watch.
However, Gigaom – another technology focused website – quoting its sources said that the pictures are that of a prototype and “that Samsung has a different, more finished product that will be announced this coming week in simultaneous events in New York and Berlin”.
As per the images, Samsung’s Galaxy Gear has big bezel around the 3-inch high quality OLED display that shows full spectrum of colours. This smart watch is said to have a dual-core mobile processor and a quad-core Mali-400 MP4 graphics chip.
The Galaxy Gear will feature a camera and microphone integrated on the strap and will also have some speakers. The smart watch would also have built-in Near Field Communication chip and Bluetooth 4.0. Samsung will also pack accelerometer and other sensors to be used for other apps as well as features. It is most likely to come with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The Galaxy Gear is expected to offer 24 hours of run time with modest usage and 10 hours of battery life on active usage.
With all these features, a hefty price tag on Samsung Galaxy Gear cannot be ruled out either.
