iPhone 4S facing microSIM issues

The Apple iPhone 4S comes with a dual-mode chip that allows the users to register and use it either of the both - GSM and CDMA network.

Apple’s latest iPhone 4S is facing issues with the card. According to some users, who wrote on a website
, the smartphone sometime stops supporting the SIM card.

Though Apple has not acknowledged this issue to be wide-spread on massive scale, it continues to bother several early adopters.

Select owners of new Apple iPhone 4S faced the microSIM registration and activation issues despite trying practically every possible legit workarounds. As part of the warranty policy, Apple did replace those units with a new unit but the complaints about similar instances continue to flow.

The Apple iPhone 4S comes with a chip that allows the users to register and use it either of the both – GSM and CDMA network. Users even complained about buggy performance of the new virtual assistant feature – Siri on the iPhone 4S.

Users who got lucky with SIM activation with iPhone 4S were not happy with the battery life and to fix that Apple issued 5.0.1 update. Even after that the issue continues to prevail and puzzle every one.

The Apple Support Communities thread spans to over 17 pages with number of users trying to help out and list the workarounds. Out of them, very few got it working while most had to get it replaced.

Number of Indian users had bought the iPhone 4S from UK and five users, whom The Mobile Indian contacted, said they are facing issues with iPhone 4S activation. One case was so bizarre that a user could browse the web comfortably but would not be able to make any calls.

As of now, the reason of the iPhone 4S SIM failure has not been narrowed down or acknowledged. From the carrier front, updated profile versions need to be rolled out to support the iPhone 4S and also the microSIMs issued.

In India, Aircel and Airtel have started taking pre-orders for the iPhone 4S while we hope that the technical teams of respective operators better be ready for some microSIM related troubleshooting. As per the recent reports, the iPhone 4S prices in India are – Rs 44,500 for 16 GB, Rs 50,900 for 32 and Rs 57,500 for 64 GB.

When consumers pay such an hefty price for a smartphone, it is obvious for them to expect that the device works fine out of the box.
